We present a case of an emergency operation on acute MR and cardiac rupture due to a blunt thoracic trauma. This 27-year-old male suffered a severe blow to the chest when his motorcycle crashed to a tree. He was brought to this hospital by ambulance. On admission, the patient was in shock due to hypotension. Echocardiogram revealed cardiac tamponade and MR of grade 3/4. Pericardial drainage was performed immediately and his condition improved. One hundred thirty-seven fractures of the scapula in 121 patients were reviewed. The average age at the time of injury was 35 years, with fractures predominant in males (64%). The majority of cases (43%) involved fractures of the body of the scapula, with fractures of the scapular neck being second most common (26%). The objective of this retrospective study was to evaluate some epidemiological characteristics, surgical treatment methods, and complications of cases involving mandibular fractures. Records from 119 patients treated for mandibular fractures between January 2006 and December 2011 were analyzed. We find mandibular fractures mostly affect Caucasian (72.2%) men (80.7%).
