We experienced 4 cases of agranulocytosis due to anti-tuberculosis drugs (rifampicin [RFP], isoniazid [INH], ethambutol [EB], streptomycin [SM] or pyrazinamide [PZA]) among some 6,400 tuberculosis patients who underwent chemotherapy over the past 20 years from 1981 to 2002 in our hospital, and the incidence rate of agranulocytosis was estimated at 0.06%. PURPOSE: This study presents the long-term results of treatment of a series of patients with tuberculous mycobacterial lymphadenitis of the head and neck.
PATIENTS: Twenty-one patients were seen in a 10-year period. The median age at onset was of 41.2 years (range, 4 to 79 years), and the male-to-female ratio was 11:10.
