METHODS: The medical records of a patient with bilateral carotid body paragangliomas were reviewed.

The ceruminous glands of the external auditory canal skin of 20 patients suffering from otosclerosis were examined histologically and histochemically. The histological changes included flattening of the lining cells and widening of the lumina of the glands. The influence of tsutsugamushi fever infection on the metabolism of blood lymphocytes of mice differing in susceptibility to Rickettsia tsutsugamushi and of rifampicine and tetracycline treatment was studied. Histamine release was produced in the isolated perfused guinea-pig lung by injecting the pulmonary artery with rabbit antiserum to guinea-pig γ-globulin. The activity of the antiserum was absorbed by electrophoretically fast migrating guinea-pig γ-globulin but not by slow γ-globulin. Cerebral angiography revealed vertebral artery stump syndrome (VASS), and a high varicella-zoster virus (VZV) antibody index suggested VZV vasculopathy. Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) was integrated with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the evaluation of a case of cerebral mucormycosis.
