OBJECTIVES: To determine the prevalence of substance abuse among our pregnant women and the characteristics of their pregnancies, deliveries and new-born infants.
METHODS: Retrospective observational study of infants born between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2017 in our centre to substance-abusing mothers and compared with our 2002-2008 study.

AIMS: Pathological gambling is currently considered an impulse control disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). This study examines the distribution of A, B, and H substances in 15 syringomas and 11 control axillary skins. Monoclonal antibodies (MCABs) against A, B, and H substances with the avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex (ABC) method were used. Additionally, the H antigen was localized with Ulex europaeus Agglutinin-I (UEA-I) by use of the peroxidase-antiperoxidase method. Comorbidity is very frequent in bipolar disorders. The most frequently psychiatric disorders associated with bipolar disorders are substance use disorders (particularly alcohol abuse) and anxiety disorders. A retrospective case-control study (1990-1995), the Berlin Urothelial Cancer Study (BUS), examined analgesics and laxatives as risks for the induction of urothelial cancer in renal pelvis, ureter and bladder. Especially for renal pelvis cancer could observe substance and dose specific risk of compound analgesics. The analgesic substances Phenacetin, Paracetamol, Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and Pyrazolones were assessed. Besides a risk of contact laxatives (chemical or anthranoide ingredients) for urothelial cancer was found, not yet described. The highest risk shows the anthranoide plant Senna.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) are disproportionately impacted by HIV in the United States, and substance use and compulsive sexual behavior (CSB) are contributors to HIV risk behavior. This study sought to examine the direct and interactive effects of concurrent substance use and CSB on condomless anal sex (CAS) in a community sample of MSM (N = 200) utilizing a 90-day timeline follow-back assessment. Non-parental adults (NPAs), or adults in social networks other than parents and romantic/sexual partnersare an under-examined potential resource in the lives of young men who have sex with men (YMSM). Using survey and social network data from a sample (n = 169) of ethnically diverse YMSM in a Midwestern city, this article examines longitudinal associations between emotional closeness to NPAs and subsequent substance use among YMSM. We reviewed the literature on standard case management (SCM), intensive case management (ICM), assertive community treatment (ACT), and critical time intervention (CTI) for homeless adults. We searched databases for peer-reviewed English articles published from 1985 to 2011 and found 21 randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental studies comparing case management to other services.
