Various types of skin manifestations of human yersiniosis were examined with routine histological and immunohistological methods. The biopsy material consisted of sixteen cases of erythema nodosum, eight cases of erythema multiforme, and one case of erythema figuratum. The skin should not be thought of as an isolated organ system. When the skin is involved by disease, other organs may be affected as well. Cutaneous xanthomas commonly occur with plasma lipid abnormalities, necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum with diabetes mellitus, and the porphyrias with altered heme synthesis. Erythema multiforme and erythema nodosum may be considered hypersensitivity reactions, occurring in response to a wide range of inciting agents, including infections, drugs, neoplasms, and rarely, collagen vascular diseases.

Dermatologic lesions in Behçet's disease are regarded as important manifestation for diagnosis. Various kinds of cutaneous lesions appear in patients with Behçet's disease. They present as erythema nodosum-like lesion, papulopustular eruption, erythema multiforme-like lesion, thrombophlebitis, skin ulcer, Sweet's syndrome-like lesion, bullous necrotizing vasculitis, and pyoderma gangrenosum. The hyperreactivity of the skin to any intracutaneous injection or needle prick, which is known as pathergy, is one clinically-unique feature of the disease.

When the rashes of one hundred and thirty-eight patients with chronic polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) were carefully analyzed, ten different types of primary lesions, in descending order of frequency were recorded: vesiculopapules, erythema and edema, prurigo-lesions, soft maculondoules, eczema, plaques, urticas, blisters, target lesions, and solid nodules.
