Several studies have demonstrated the deleterious effect of aging on the capacity of cells to repair their DNA. However, current existing assays aimed at measuring DNA repair address only a specific repair step dedicated to the correction of a specific DNA lesion type. Esophageal perforation is a rare but serious complication that can occur post-cervical spine surgery. This case report presents the clinical course, diagnostic challenges and management strategies of a patient who had a late-diagnosis esophageal perforation after anterior cervical spine surgery (ACSS). Soft-tissue defects of the pretibial region constitute a major reconstructive challenge because of the insufficiency of the local tissues. In such cases, a long cross-leg flap may be an alternative option. We describe compression of the ulnar nerve at Guyon's canal caused by a hypermobile pisiform bone and associated with spasm of the ulnar artery. Treatment included excision of the pisiform bone, and repair of the flexor carpi ulnaris, hypothenar musculature, and periosteum. Postoperatively, the patient reported complete relief of symptoms, which had still been maintained at final follow-up one year later.

Congenital vesicovaginal fistula is an extreme rarity. We report on a case of a 22-year-old lady who presented with menouria and infertility. On evaluation, she was found to have congenital vesicovaginal fistula, a nonfunctioning right kidney with ectopic ureter and transverse vaginal septum. Abdominal repair of the fistula, right nephroureterectomy, and excision of the vaginal septum was performed.

I present a simplified aponeurotic ptosis repair that minimizes surgical dissection and enhances the predictability of postoperative eyelid positions. Indications for the procedure are unilateral ptosis, bilateral ptosis where preaponeurotic fat excision is not indicated, mild congenital ptosis, and reoperations from standard levator surgery. The procedure is best suited for surgeons who have a thorough knowledge of the levator aponeurosis anatomy.

A case of a 66-year-old black female who was diagnosed and treated for a chronic ethmoidal sinus mucocele is reported. This case report covers the initial presentation, clinical progression, differential diagnosis, surgical excision, and repair of the lesion. We used the bromouracil-photolysis technique to estimate the sizes of the repaired regions in normal human and xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) cells irradiated by gamma-rays aerobically or anoxically. INTRODUCTION: We describe our experience with evaluating the ideal management of female paraurethral leiomyomas from imaging to surgery and follow-up.
METHODS: Between January 2009 and January 2012, we treated six women (age range 32-49 years) affected by paraurethral leiomyoma of different sizes.
