The author describes some special traits in accomplishing the modified techniques for a formation of conceptions according to Vigotsky-Sakharov's test in patients with different forms of neuroses (neurasthenia, hysteria, psychasthenia). A study of conceptual thinking in such patients revealed a dissociation between the possibility of a practical mastering of the task and its verbalization on a conceptual level which is characteristic of hysteria.

The clinical and psychometric comparison of two group of patients, one with spasmodic torticollis, the other with operated herniated disc, showed closely related psychological profiles. The most important perturbations are found in spasmodic torticollis and seem related to the disease's chronicity. In no case was a predominant hysteric structure found. The results of these investigations on the disorder's etiology are discussed.

The psychologic effect of sickle cell anemia, a life-long chronic illness, on the self-concept, anxiety level, and personal and social adjustments of school-aged children was investigated by using a battery of standard psychologic tests. Two groups of children were evaluated: a study group of 29 children with sickle cell anemia (hemoglobin SS) and a comparison group of 26 black inner city schoolchildren without sickle cell disease or other known chronic illness. The youngsters with sickle cell anemia did not differ from a peer group of schoolchildren in personal, social, and total adjustments.

OBJECTIVES: We sought to evaluate the utility of partner notification for control of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and to identify subgroups in which it may be most effective.
METHODS: All persons reported to be HIV-positive during a 2-year period were interviewed. Outcome measures included proportion of index patients cooperating; number of partners named, located, counseled, and tested; number of persons newly testing positive; and costs.

Predictive testing (PT) for Huntington disease (HD) usually requires several in-person appointments which acts as a barrier to testing for those from remote regions. This pilot study reports the use of telehealth PT to examine whether such telehealth testing improves access to HD PT while maintaining quality of care and support.
