2013 consensus statement for early reperfusion and pharmaco-invasive approach in patients presenting with chest pain diagnosed as STEMI (ST elevation myocardial infarction) in an Indian setting.

UNLABELLED: In India, the prevalence of ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is rising exponentially leading to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Despite advancement in reperfusion therapy (pharmacologic and interventional), the overall utilization, system of care and timely reperfusion remains suboptimal. JUSTIFICATION AND PURPOSE: Alarming treatment delays exist in patients presenting with chest pain observed in real-world and published evidences. Time to diagnose STEMI and initiation of reperfusion therapy at various first medical contacts in India is variable mandating immediat

Advanced sperm selection techniques for assisted reproduction.

BACKGROUND: Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) including in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), combine gametes to enhance the probability of fertilisation and pregnancy. Advanced sperm selection techniques are increasingly employed in ART, most commonly in cycles utilising ICSI. Advanced sperm selection techniques are proposed to improve the chance that structurally intact and mature sperm with high DNA integrity are selected for fertilisation. Strategies include selection according to surface charge; sperm apoptosis; sperm birefringence; ability to bi

Hybrid Analysis of Videoconference Technology Use by Aging-in-Place Organizations to Promote Social Engagement for Older Adults: A Scoping Review with Latent Topic Modeling.

Background/Objectives: Loneliness and social isolation are common among older adults and linked to adverse health outcomes. Videoconferencing can support social connections, but the role of aging-in-place organizations (AIPOs), such as senior centers and Area Agencies on Aging, in facilitating adoption is poorly understood. This review examined how AIPOs use relational videoconferencing to promote social engagement among older adults. Methods: We applied a hybrid methodology combining a scoping review with latent topic modeling to contextualize and analyze the evidence base. Exploratory search

Prevention and treatment of tuberculosis among patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus: principles of therapy and revised recommendations. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

These guidelines update previous CDC recommendations for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of tuberculosis (TB) among adults and children coinfected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in the United States. The most notable changes in these guidelines reflect both the findings of clinical trials that evaluated new drug regimens for treating and preventing TB among HIV-infected persons and recent advances in the use of antiretroviral therapy. In September 1997, when CDC convened a meeting of expert consultants to discuss current information about HIV-related TB, special emphasis was

BRIEF - SYNOPSIS OF THE HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) SCREENING AND TESTING GUIDE.

BACKGROUND The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) estimates that, in 2011, 25% of people living with HIV in Canada were undiagnosed. Hesitation to seek testing may arise from fear, stigma and discrimination associated with the HIV diagnosis and related risk behaviours. This guide is designed to complement existing efforts to support care providers involved in HIV testing, in order to reduce the number of undiagnosed HIV infections in Canada. APPROACH PHAC commissioned a literature review and consulted with provinces and territories, and key stakeholders, including people living with HIV/AID

Military medical research in the IDF: an array of fields and interests.

War is as old as history. Some may say it is older. The first Biblical war, dated 1880-1875 BCE, is depicted in the book of Genesis between nine kings in the vicinity of the Jordan river near Jericho. By the end of the war, Abraham (Abram) gets involved in saving his nephew Lot. In addition to war, military medicine also has its roots in historical times. Hippocrates (460-377 BCE), the father of medicine, derived his medical knowledge from the battlefield, and Sushruta [1], the father of plastic surgery, mentioned the physician's preventive role in noting environmental hazards: "A common pract

Evaluation of Chronic, Noncancer Pain Management Initiative in a Multidisciplinary Pain Clinic.

BACKGROUND: Chronic pain management is a major challenge for primary care providers (PCPs). PCPs manage many patients with chronic pain and other comorbidities including mental health problems like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. Chronic pain and opioid problems are a national crisis, particularly among veterans (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 2019). There are many veterans with chronic non-cancer pain who are being treated with opioids. Chronic opioid use has contributed to an epidemic of opioid-related adverse events (VA, 2017). Opioids not only result in poor pai
