Hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma (HLRCC) is an autosomal dominant familial syndrome characterized by the development of cutaneous and uterine leiomyomas as well as renal tumors. Complexes of carboxylic acids are very often studied due to their interesting structural, spectral, and magnetic properties. This review is focused on complexes of four dicarboxylic acids, namely, 2,2'-thiodioacetic, 3,3'-thiodipropionic, 3,3'-dithiodipropionic, and fumaric acid. Many of the complexes were characterized by single crystal X-ray analyses. Without the analyses, it is very difficult to predict the coordination mode of carboxylate groups or nitrogen ligands on central atoms. Thus, structural properties are also discussed, as well as potential applications.

Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) is the latest agent approved for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) treatment. In its registrations trials, TAF demonstrated better renal safety and improvement in alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities compared with tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF).1-3 However, data are scarce regarding these outcomes in liver transplantation (LTx) recipients.4 In this study, we determine effects of switching from other antivirals to TAF on ALT and renal function in LTx recipients.

Multiple cutaneous and uterine leiomyoma (MCL), or Reed syndrome is an uncommon condition that includes cutaneous piloleiomyomas and internal neoplasms of the uterus and kidney. Clinical findings include clusters of variably-painful, skin-colored-to-red-brown papules. Genetic testing shows germline mutations in the gene encoding fumarate hydratase. We describe a patient with MCL who presented with subtle cutaneous findings. We believe it is important that dermatologists consider a diagnosis of MCL when presented with patients with small painful dermal papules.

A new series of disubstituted tetrahydrocarbazoles were synthesized. They are tested for antidepressive activity by the Porsolt's forced swimming test (one of the acute stress methods) and by the prevention of reserpine induced hypothermia and ptosis in mice. 3-Morpholino-1-[N-(6-methoxy-1,2,3,4- tetrahydrocarbozolyl)2-propanol, fumarate (XI) was demonstrated to be the most promising compound of this series. Besides, this series did not present the most common adverse effects of the conventional tricyclic-antidepressants (loss of locomotor coordination, ataxia and anticholinergic activity).
