Lipoma is the most common soft tissue mass in adults but it is uncommon in children. Nasal septal lipoma is an even more rare entity. In this report, a 12-year-old girl was presented with congenital nasal septal lipoma. She had permanent partial nasal obstruction on her right side and disfigurement of her right upper lip. CT scan revealed a lipoma-like mass in the septum plus an additional incidental finding of an intracranial lipoma. PURPOSE: Evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of the ING3 in actinic cheilitis and squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip.
METHODS: Forty-five specimens of actinic cheilitis and 48 specimens of squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip were submitted to immunohistochemical detection of ING3. We experienced a 49-year-old man with cancer of the lower lip (squamous cell carcinoma, T1N2cM0). We planned surgical treatment including bilateral neck dissection and started a new TS-1 administration method as a neo-adjuvant chemotherapy. One course of this chemotherapy consisted of 3 weeks'administration including 5-day administration and 2-day termination following 1 week rest. TS-1 was given at 120 mg/day. After the first course of chemotherapy, the primary tumor disappeared, and the neck lymph node metastases were markedly reduced. There was no obvious side effect except mild stomatitis.

Lip cancer, relatively common among fair-skinned males, is uncommon among Black-skinned males. In a 10-year review period of 358 Black African patients with orofacial squamous cell carcinoma, 3.9% (n = 14) were found on the lip with a male to female ratio of 2.5:1. Fifty percent (n = 7) of the patients were albinos and two were children with xeroderma pigmentosum. The lower lip was most commonly affected (78.6%). Reconstructive surgery to the lips requires the replacement of defective tissues with similarly functioning tissues. While non-dynamic free tissue transfers provide adequate lower lip reconstruction, improved benefits may be obtained with innervated free muscle flaps.
