In this study we examined how personality disposition may affect the response to cholecystokinin tetrapeptide (CCK-4; 50 microg) challenge in healthy volunteers (n=105). METHODS: Beryllium-exposed persons are classified as beryllium-exposed, beryllium-sensitized (BeS), or chronic beryllium disease. Implications of defining BeS by two or more positive lymphocyte proliferation tests (LPTs) were investigated with a simple binomial model. The potential effect of adjusting the interval for repeated intensive testing to detect chronic beryllium disease among persons with BeS was assessed with a Markov model.

Contact urticaria and anaphylactoid reactions among hospital personnel and patients following contact with latex gloves and glove dusting powder have previously been reported. In this paper an attempt is described to estimate the incidence and frequency of neurologic and otologic symptoms among patients two years after TBE. We examined 43 persons of both sexes aged 17-58. The most frequent complaints were: headache--34.9%, equilibrium problems--37.2%, buzzing in the ears--27.9%, hearing problems--23.3%, memory problems--25.6%. Decrease of throat reflexes was stated in 3 (7%) and pseudobulbaris symptoms in 2 (4.6%), weakness of muscles in 4 (9.3%). HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders remain prevalent but challenging to diagnose particularly among non-demented individuals. To determine whether a brief computerized battery correlates with formal neurocognitive testing, we identified 46 HIV-infected persons who had undergone both formal neurocognitive testing and a brief computerized battery. In this retrospective study, we examined changes in decision-making for and against the predictive genetic test for Huntington's disease including 478 persons at risk who had undergone genetic counselling in one centre in Germany between 1993 and 2004.
