This review article describes the methods and clinical recommendations for reinforcing traumatized anterior immature teeth with pulp necrosis treated with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) apexification. Traumatic injury can cause pulp necrosis and incomplete root formation in immature teeth. MTA apexification is the treatment of choice for necrotic immature teeth, particularly during the middle or late stages of root development. MTA apexification has a high success rate; however, failures due to cervical or root fractures occasionally occur. The risk of fracture is higher in immature teeth wi

This study aimed to evaluate the optical properties of liner-treated CAD/CAM Multi-colored lithium disilicate (Amber Mill Direct; AMD) and multi-layered zirconia (Omega multi; OM) implant-supported crowns, as well as their effect on the fracture strength of Ti or Zr abutments to which they were applied. After sintering AMD and OM ceramic blocks, they were classified into three groups: untreated, liner-treated, and liner-treated with added color. Optical properties were evaluated by analyzing color differences using background materials to assess translucency and the masking ability of liner-tr

BACKGROUND: Different treatment options exist for replacement of an anterior tooth, and as implant-supported single crowns (ISSC) and resin-bonded fixed dental prosthesis (RBFDPs) both are widespread treatment options, it is of clinical relevance to know which treatment modality can be considered superior.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this comparative study was to evaluate the 3- and 5-year survival and failure rate of tooth-supported resin-bonded fixed dental prosthesis compared to implant-supported single crowns. The null hypothesis was that there was no significant difference in survival rate,

The aim of this retrospective study was to clarify the occurrence and types of dental injuries in 389 patients who had been diagnosed with facial fractures, and to analyze whether the occurrence of dental injury correlates to gender, age, trauma mechanism and type of facial fracture. Dental injuries were observed in 62 patients (16%). The most common type of injury was a crown fracture (48%). Dental injuries were multiple in most patients (63%). Almost half (48%) of all injured teeth were severely injured. Most injured teeth (61%) were in the maxilla. The incisor region was the most prevalent

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a genetic disorder that affects all connective tissue. Clinical manifestations of OI include bone fragility, hyperlaxity of joints, hearing loss, abnormalities of stature and facial structure, blue sclerae, and dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI). OI is classified into four groups according to the severity and physical characteristics of the disease, although not all characteristics may be present in one individual. Currently, 20,000 to 50,000 individuals in the U.S. have been diagnosed with this disease. The aim of this article is to discuss medical and dental compl

Intraosseous (IO) anesthesia has emerged as an effective primary and supplemental technique for achieving profound pulpal anesthesia during root canal treatment, particularly in mandibular molars. However, needle fracture during IO administration is an exceedingly rare complication with no established management protocol. A 29-year-old female presented with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and symptomatic apical periodontitis in tooth #30, requiring nonsurgical root canal treatment. A first-year postgraduate endodontic student administered IO anesthesia using the QuickSleeper system (Dental H

The optimal repair of rigid mineralized tissues, such as bone, in cases of fracture, surgical resection, or prosthetic placement, is a complex process often necessitating the use of bone graft materials. Autogenous bone from the patient is generally the gold standard in terms of outcomes but also has disadvantages, which have resulted in extensive research in the field of tissue engineering to develop better and more convenient alternatives. In the dental field, several initiatives have demonstrated that the dentin material derived from extracted teeth produces excellent results in terms of re
