The antibacterial activity of essential oil and methanolic extract of Teucrium polium was determined against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pantoea agglomerans, Brenneria nigrifluens, Rhizobium radiobacter, Rhizobium vitis, Streptomyces scabies, Ralstonia solanacearum, Xanthomonas campestris and Pectobacterium cartovorum by disc diffusion method. A series of monofluoroalkene derivatives were designed and synthesized as succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs). Most compounds showed high in vitro activity against Rhizoctonia solani, with EC50 values below 0.01 mg/L. Compound V-17b (4-OPh) was the most potent (EC50 = 0.0029 mg/L), surpassing boscalid and fluxapyroxad by over 10-fold. Several compounds retained >50% inhibition in vivo at 200 mg/L against Rhizoctonia solani. AIM OF THE STUDY: The severity of Alzheimer's disease obviously correlates with a cholinergic deficit. In a screening for acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity, an extract from the fruit resin of Semecarpus anacardium was among the most active ones. Catalytic hydrogenolysis of the N-O bond under ambient pressure and temperature leads to fluorides of beta-amino acids that undergo cyclization to alpha-trifluoromethylated beta-lactams or, under acidic conditions, form esters of alpha-trifluoromethylated beta-amino acids.
