Naegeli-Franceschetti-Jadassohn syndrome and dermatopathia pigmentosa reticularis are autosomal dominant ectodermal dysplasias characterized by the absence of dermatoglyphics, reticulate hyper pigmentation of the skin, hypohidrosis, and heat intolerance. Palmoplantar keratoderma, nail dystrophy, and enamel defects are common in Naegeli-Franceschetti-Jadassohn syndrome, whereas diffuse alopecia is only seen in dermatopathia pigmentosa reticularis. We studied a large Swiss family with Naegeli-Franceschetti-Jadassohn syndrome originally described by Naegeli in 1927 and assessed linkage to chromos…

We describe a case report of prenatal presentation of membranous aplasia cutis congenita on the vertex by magnetic resonance imaging, the conflict between the prenatal presentation, the postnatal features, and the long-term follow-up.

A 27-year-old multiparous woman conceived her fetus naturally. Early second-trimester ultrasound showed short extremities with systemic subc … heterozygous variant in IFT122. The phenotype of this case was severer than of other types of cranioectodermal dysplasia.

Cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome (CFCS) is a rare disorder characterized by distinctive craniofacial appearance, cardiac, neurologic, cutaneous, and musculoskeletal abnormalities. It is due to heterozygous mutations in BRAF, MAP2K1, MAP2K2, and KRAS genes, belonging to the RAS/MAPK pathway. The role of RAS signaling in bone homeostasis is highly recognized, but data on bone mineral density (BMD) in CFCS are lacking. In the present study we evaluated bone parameters, serum and urinary bone metabolites in 14 individuals with a molecularly confirmed diagnosis of CFCS. Bone assessment was performed

BACKGROUND: Sensenbrenner syndrome, which is also known as cranioectodermal dysplasia (CED), is a rare, autosomal recessive ciliary chondrodysplasia characterized by a variety of clinical features including a distinctive craniofacial appearance as well as skeletal, ectodermal, liver and renal anomalies. Progressive renal disease can be life-threatening in this condition. CED is a genetically heterogeneous disorder. Currently, variants in any of six genes (IFT122, WDR35, IFT140, IFT43, IFT52 and WDR19) have been associated with this syndrome. All of these genes encode proteins essential for int…

Bart syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by aplasia cutis congenita, epidermolysis bullosa (EB), and nail abnormalities. We reported an unusual case of Bart syndrome associated with skeletal abnormalities and bilateral clubfoot.

Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) is a rare condition that occurs in around 0.01% of births. Characterized by a localized absence of skin, it affects the midline of the scalp in over 80% of cases. We describe the case of an infant born via vaginal spontaneous delivery with ACC affecting the scalp. This extended to the subcutaneous tissue and bone leaving the dura mater exposed. The patient was managed conservatively. At 4 weeks of age, she had a fatal superior sagittal sinus hemorrhage. In a review of the literature, we found ten previous cases of hemorrhage of the superior sagittal sinus complica

Pyloric atresia is an uncommon congenital gastric outlet obstruction, accounting for only 1% of gastrointestinal atresias. Up to 55% of cases have associated anomalies, the most common of which is epidermolysis bullosa. Fetal MRI findings of the epidermolysis bullosa-pyloric atresia association have not been previously reported. We present a case of this association diagnosed by prenatal MRI with corroborative postnatal imaging and surgical findings.

INTRODUCTION: Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC), is a rare anomaly presenting with a solitary scalp lesion of skin abrasion. Lesions can be multiple and on different surfaces of the body but are mostly seen on the scalp (%70) as a solitary lesion. As it is a rare disease, we aimed to describe our case with ACC.
CASE REPORT: Our case was a newborn infant with a large full thickness skin and skull defect on the scalp at birth. He also had hypoplasia on the fingers, omphalocele, ectopic anus, cleft lip and palate anomalies and multiple cardiac anomalies. We planned further evaluation but he died 23

An 11-month-old infant girl presented with right-sided features of aplasia cutis congenita of the scalp, unilateral epibulbar dermoids, eccentric pupil, coloboma of the right upper eyelid, and depigmentation of the fundus surrounding the right optic nerve. These findings were similar to the oculoectodermal syndrome reported by other clinicians and researchers.

We report the first case of pachyonychia congenita (PC) associated with both eruptive vellus hair cyst (EVHC) and epidermoid cyst. The patient is a 12-year-old Japanese girl who presented with two natal teeth at birth. She had thickening and discoloration of the fingernails and toenails, plantar hyperkeratosis, palmar-plantar hyperhidrosis and multiple cutaneous cysts. Histologic examination revealed EVHC and epidermoid cyst.

Costello syndrome is characterised by postnatal growth deficiency, coarse facies, redundant skin on the neck, palms, soles, and fingers, dark skin, acanthosis nigricans, and papillomata. The natural history evolves in two phases, a severe failure to thrive during the first months contrasting with a normal weight gain in later life. Cardiomyopathy is frequent but other visceral involvement is rare. Mild to moderate mental retardation is usual and most patients exhibit a characteristic sociable and friendly personality. The pathogenesis and molecular basis of the syndrome are unknown and the dia

Aplasia cutis congenita is a heterogeneous group of conditions usually involving the scalp as well as any other part of the body and is associated with a number of other congenital anomalies. We report on a newborn male with almost complete absence of skin and subcutaneous tissue in association with choanal atresia, syndactyly, imperforate anus, pulmonary hypoplasia, and other anomalies. To our knowledge, this condition, not only in the extent of the lesion but the associated anomalies, has not been reported previously.

BACKGROUND: The Mulvihill-Smith syndrome consists of a large number of stigmata. A few of them are also seen in the LEOPARD syndrome. In both syndromes keratoconus has not yet been reported.
PATIENT: We present a twenty-year-old male patient suffering from keratoconus in connection with a Mulvihill-Smith syndrome. A keratoplasty à chaud was done after perforation of the corneal ulcer.
CONCLUSION: As a major complication corneal graft rejection is known after keratoplasty à chaud. However, in our patient immunological graft failure may be prevented by the T-cell defect.
