PURPOSE: To report four cases of branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) with the complication of serous retinal detachment (SRD).
METHODS: We retrospectively studied four eyes of four patients with macular edema and macular hard exudates associated with midperipheral BRVO. Cystic breast masses are a common presentation to breast clinics. While the majority of cysts can be managed by simple aspiration, a small proportion are malignant. Histology records for a 10-year period have been examined to identify patients with cystic breast carcinomas. In all, 31 patients were identified. Neutrophil elastase (NE) and its complex with alpha 1-antitrypsin were quantified in ear discharges from 15 patients with chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM), and their levels were compared to those in middle ear effusions from 10 pediatric patients with chronic otitis media with effusion (OME).
