Rotational path removable partial denture (RPD): conservative esthetic treatment option for the edentulous mandibular anterior region: a case report.

UNLABELLED: It can be esthetically and financially daunting for patients to lose teeth in an anterior region of the mouth. For these patients, traditional treatment options presented in the past have included fixed partial denture, implants, and conventional removable partial denture (RPD). For patients faced with financial, anatomical, and/or esthetic limitations, the edentulous region can be restored successfully with a rotational path RPD. Rotational path RPD designs have often been overlooked by the dental profession due to its complex concepts involving the prosthetic design and sensitive

Cost Effectiveness in the Treatment of Lumbar Spondylolisthesis.

Treatment options for degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis (DLS) have become increasingly complex over the past 114 years of its recognition as a condition, with the development of increasingly expensive surgical consumables, implants, and techniques aimed at improving outcomes for this growing patient population. Due to the financial impact on patients, the clinical benefit derived must be periodically reviewed in the context of the associated costs. This article compiles data from multiple studies, primarily of North American origin, to assess the current state of available treatment option

Evaluation of a novel community-based COVID-19 'Test-to-Care' model for low-income populations.

BACKGROUND: After a COVID-19 diagnosis, vulnerable populations face considerable logistical and financial challenges to isolate and quaranti … ked to primary care despite support (approximately 10% after one month), and insufficient access to financial support for wage replacement. CONCLUSIONS: The Test-to-Care Model is a feasible and acceptable intervention for supporting self-isolation and quarantine among newly diagnosed COVID-19 patients and their households by directly addressing key barriers faced …

Mind Matters: South Dakota's Public Health Response to Dementia.

Alzheimer's disease and related dementias pose a growing health and societal challenge in South Dakota, where dementia ranks as the fourth leading cause of death. The burden extends beyond patients to families and caregivers, many of whom report significant emotional, financial, and physical strain. In response, the South Dakota Department of Health introduced the South Dakota Healthy Brain Initiative. This statewide effort aims to improve brain health across the lifespan, promote earlier detection, strengthen caregiver support, and prepare the state's workforce to better respond to the needs

Challenges to treatment preparedness among lung cancer patients from a healthcare provider perspective: a mixed-method study.

We aim to (1) explore the main barriers to treatment faced by lung cancer patients, from a provider's perspective, and (2) the existing support systems in addition to recommended mitigation strategies to enhance the preparedness process. Our study invol ves 50 surveys and 10 interview responses, in a mixed-method design. We conducted descriptive statistics and thematic analysis through a hybrid inductive-deductive approach. We based our analysis on the Optimal Care Pathways framework and Andersen's Behavioral Model. The doctors identified challenges to patient readiness for treatment, such as

An Examination of How Individuals Manage Uncertainty Around Scoliosis.

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), affecting approximately one in every 25 children, presents significant lifelong physical and psychosocial challenges. However, a systematic understanding of the sources of this uncertainty and how individuals communicatively navigate it is lacking. Thus, this qualitative study applied uncertainty management theory (UMT) to examine participants' uncertainty associated with scoliosis. The investigation identified key sources of uncertainty (medical, financial, social, and career) and management strategies through semi-structured interviews with 21 individua

Predicting Risk Factors for Intimate Partner Violence Among Post-9/11 College Student Veterans.

The current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq present unique risk factors for military personnel that increase the likelihood of psychological distress and concomitant consequences related to trauma. Several studies have found that the stress brought about by financial difficulties, unemployment, and the need to renegotiate roles and responsibilities with spouses following discharge increases the likelihood of relationship strain and even intimate partner violence in the veteran population. This study was undertaken to determine the challenges related to maintaining healthy relationships for c

Aid alignment: a longer term lens on trends in development assistance for health in Uganda.

BACKGROUND: Over the past decade, development assistance for health (DAH) in Uganda has increased dramatically, surpassing the government's own expenditures on health. Yet primary health care and other priorities identified in Uganda's health sector strategic plan remain underfunded. METHODS: Using data available from the Creditor Reporting System (CRS), National Health Accounts (NHA), and government financial reports, we examined trends in how donors channel DAH and the extent to which DAH is aligned with sector priorities. The study follows the flow of DAH from the donor to the implementing

Stressful life events and depressive symptoms in a post-war context: which informal support makes a difference?

Gerontological literature utilizes the life stress paradigm to understand the impact of stress on psychological well-being, as well as the protective role that social resources play in buffering those effects; however these relationships are not well understood within various historical and social contexts. Utilizing a sample of 490 community-residing older adults in post-civil war Lebanon, this study investigates the moderating role of various social support factors in the stress-depression relationship. Contrary to expectations, results suggest that older Lebanese are more susceptible to the

The social factors affecting the diffusion of parasitology to Puerto Rico and Hong Kong.

This study seeks to understand the role played by social factors in the diffusion of parasitology to Puerto Rico, in particular those affect … heir respective investigations than intellectual ones. Australian women's perspectives on gendered vulnerability, commercial power, and resistance to the commercialization of menopause.

A range of commercial actors actively shape how menopause is understood, experienced, and managed. While existing research highlights concerns about commercial influence, much less is known about how women themselves interpret, negotiate, and respond to these commercialized menopause environments. Using an online qualitative survey, this study explored the opinions of n = 362 Australian cisgender women (45-64 years) about the commercialization of menopause. Data were interpreted using a reflexive approach to thematic analysis, with three themes constructed from the data. (i) 'Commercialization
