However, the epigenetic mechanisms behind how EV71 regulates host cell proliferation and apoptosis are unclear. RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: The authors present preliminary findings on the diagnosis of renovascular hypertension with technetium-99m-ethylenedicysteine (99mTc-EC).
METHODS: Thirty-nine patients referred to the nuclear medicine department with clinical evidence of renovascular hypertension were included in the study. Baseline and captopril scintigraphies were done on separate days after the injection of 185 MBq of 99mTc-EC. BACKGROUND: Sepsis is defined as multi-organ dysfunction caused by dysregulated host response to infection. This dysregulated host response includes enhanced inflammatory responses and suppressed adaptive immunity, but the molecular mechanisms behind it have not yet been elucidated. CD72, a type II transmembrane protein that is primarily expressed in B cells, was found to play an immunomodulatory role in the immune system and was associated with mortality in patients with sepsis.
