A 51-year-old woman with dermatomyositis (DM) on chronic immunosuppressive therapy was hospitalised for evaluation of haematuria. Surprisingly, abdominal imaging demonstrated pneumoperitoneum and pneumatosis intestinalis (PI). In Agogo Hospital in the forest zone of Ghana, 59 consecutive cases of typhoid perforation (TP) of the ileum, occurring between August 1982 and January 1987 were studied retrospectively. The authors retrospectively describe the computed tomographic (CT) findings in 35 patients with peptic ulcer disease. Three of eight patients with gastritis or duodenitis had bowel-wall thickening. We studied digestive manifestations occurring during follow-up of 19 cases of myotonic dystrophy. GI symptoms occurred in 10 patients (53%), mainly dysphagia (n = 7). In patients undergoing investigations (n = 7), their digestive troubles were probably or definitively related to the neurological disease in 6 cases.
