Haematology and blood biochemistry were monitored during the development and regression of psoroptic scabies in sheep. There were rises in numbers of neutrophils and eosinophils and in the fibrinogen concentrations, with lowered haemoglobin concentrations any lymphocyte numbers. The only biochemical parameters that were affected were the estimated serum globulin concentration, which rose during the disease process, and the serum albumin concentration, which fell. All of these changes reverted to normal soon after treatment.

An outbreak of diarrhea in neonatal lambs occurred on a sheep farm in northern Ohio. Diarrhea commenced as early as 1 week of age and lasted for about 3-4 days. Although 100% of the newborn lambs were affected, most had recovered by 3 weeks of age. Cryptosporidium infection appeared to be the cause of diarrhea. We have examined the effects of fetal hypoxaemia, produced by reducing the percent oxygen in maternal inspired air, on fetal plasma concentrations of corticotrophin releasing hormone (CRH), adrenocorticotrophin (ACTH) and cortisol and determined the effects of an opioid receptor antagonist, naloxone on these responses. A serological survey of Rift Valley fever was carried out in sheep in Côte-d'Ivoire.
