We report a fetus with an association of cyclopia without proboscis, aprosencephaly and agnathia. Analysing literature cases and the case presented here we can suggest that: 1) not only alobar holoprosencephaly but also more severe forebrain anomalies can be a brain equivalent of cyclopia; 2) aprosencephaly can be viewed as the earliest known variant of prosencephalic series; and 3) "agnathia-holoprosencephaly" association is etiologically heterogeneous.

The coagulation profile of 25 patients with brain tumours was studied preoperatively, intraoperatively and postoperatively. Ten patients had abnormal coagulation status preoperatively. Surgical intervention led to either an alteration of preexisting abnormality or appearance of new coagulation abnormality. Disseminated intravascular coagulation and fibrinolysis occurred with equal frequency in patients with meningiomas and gliomas. The alterations as a result of surgery were transient and compensated rapidly.

A series of 15 monochorionic twins with a great variety of cerebral lesions is reported. Seven cases illustrate the classical situation: the recipient twin was affected and his co-twin, the donor was macerated. In 5 cases, the lesions were described in the donor twin as well and once, as early as 22 weeks. The lesions were usually hypoxic-ischemic, in 2 they were hemorrhagic. Recent findings on the relation between alcohol abuse and ischaemic brain infarction are reviewed. Computerized tomography of the head was done in 5021 patients aged 21 to 81 years from various neurological, neurosurgical and neurotraumatological indications. Hence, in the third generation of brain death criteria, the disappearance of evoked potentials is, in our opinion, the best of the new tests. There are, therefore, three tests alternatively available: ECS, EP-abolition and CCA, which permit a shortening of the observation time, before the determination of brain death. This is not valid for newborns. In these tests the difference between supratentorial and infratentorial primary brain lesions has to be considered carefully. In infratentorial lesions the apnea can precede the ECS by several hours.

Cerebral Nocardiosis is a rare disease, usually occurring in immunocompromised hosts. We report here two cases of brain abscess due to Nocardia species-one due to usual N. asteroides and other by uncommon N. caviae. N. asteroides affected the brain in a post renal transplant patient, whereas N. caviae caused infection of brain in an apparently healthy individual.
