Histopathology in seven cases with conegenital anomalies of the inner ear of varying degree are described. Five of these had bilateral and one unilateral deafness, with function undetermined in one. Five exhibited wide variation in degree of bony aplasia. All seven had some degree of membranous aplasia. One case presented the Wildervanck syndrome. The known anomalies were limited to the ears in six. Family history of deafness was negative in six, unknown in one. Diagnosis of probable genetic origin is based mainly on the type of pathology.

Behavior of the middle ear muscle during speaking was observed in five stutterers by means of the Zwislocki acoustic impedance bridge. Change in impedance did not always parallel precisely the changes in speecli sound level. Impedance changed during the initiation and dluring the course of the stuttering block.

Patients with hearing loss who underwent cochlear implantation can present symptomatic or asymptomatic vestibular damages earlier or later after the surgery. The effect of small amounts of air on sound-induced umbo velocity in an otherwise saline-filled middle ear (ME) was investigated to examine the efficacy of a novel balloon-like air-filled ME implant suitable for patients with chronically non-aerated MEs. In this study, air bubbles or air-filled implants were introduced into saline-filled human cadaveric MEs. The objective of the present work was to study in vitro antimicrobial activity of the Candibiotic, ear drops used for the combined treatment of acute external ear otitis and acute otitis media Their anesthetic and anti-inflammatory action was compared with the effects of Otipax, and Anauran ear drops. The results of the study give a reason to recommend the application of Candibiotic ear drops as the highly effective medication for the endo-aural treatment of acute external ear otitis and acute otitis media.

We here present a 32-month follow-up of a case of Lermoyez syndrome combined with Meniere's disease. The patient was a 49-year-old male, with a stabilized severe hearing loss in the left ear for about 15 years after Meniere's disease. He started to show typical symptoms of Lermoyez syndrome in the right ear about 32 months ago. A parallel group, single-blind, randomized study was carried out in a general practice to compare the effectiveness and tolerability of two ear drop preparations ('Audax' and 'Cerumol') in the softening of ear wax in 50 adult patients with impacted or hardened ear wax.
