Ten children and a 22-y old women with tuberous sclerosis were studied. All children were epileptic but only 8 had skin lesions (white spots, sebaceous adenoma), 4 had rhabdomyoma of the heart and 4 children had astrocytoma of the retina; only in 4 children was the entire triad of tuberous sclerosis seen. Lymphangioleiomyomatosis is a rare and complicated disorder that affects the young, almost exclusively women. It may be associated with the tuberous sclerosis complex, which includes renal angiolipoma, chylothorax and lymph node myomatosis. Lipomas have been identified in all age groups but usually first appear between 40 and 60 years of age. We report a case of vascular myxolipoma of the spermatic cord occurring in a 32-year-old man. Clinically, the lesion was mobile and tender. Pathologically, the tumor was encapsulated and rubbery with a beige-yellow gelatinous cut surface. Microscopically, the lesion consisted of adipose tissue with extensive areas of myxoid change and an abundance of thin and thick-walled blood vessels. A child is reported with a scalp lipoma and underlying bony skull defect and porencephaly. The clinical picture is compatible with a diagnosis of encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis, although there is no alopecia overlying the lipoma and no scleral lesions. In addition, this child has unilateral ptosis and syndactyly. This report extends our appreciation of the phenotype of this neurocutaneous disorder.

We report a case of a thymic neoplasm in an 18-year-old woman who presented with chest discomfort and an anterior mediastinal mass. The surgically resected tumor showed abundant adipose tissue admixed with thymic tissue and numerous medium-caliber blood vessels. We consider this tumor a rare variant of thymolipoma and designate it as thymohemangiolipoma. Because of its benign nature, it should be distinguished from other mediastinal lesions.

Lipomas of the palatine tonsil are rare benign neoplasms in clinical practice. We present a case of palatine tonsillar fibroangiolipoma in a 50-year-old Chinese male with a history of multiple lipomas on the back and extremities. It was diagnosed based on histological examination and integrated analysis. Good wound healing and no evidence of recurrence were noted within 6 months follow-up after tonsillectomy. This article also puts a spotlight on the differential diagnosis of benign tonsillar tumors and reviewed recent relevant literature.

We report the case in a 72-year-old man who presented with a right inguinal mass and with a one month history that was initially interpreted as an inguinal hernia. Ultrasonography (US) and computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a right inguinal mass, including myxoid and fat component, extending from the right spermatic cord to the right inguinal subcutaneous layer. A patient with angiomyelolipoma of the liver, together with radiological evidence of pancreatic, renal and bony lesions characteristic of tuberous sclerosis, is described. Although the patient had no other clinical features of tuberous sclerosis, her daughter was found to suffer from the classical triad of this syndrome and also has had hepatic lipomatous lesions and bony involvement. This is the first histologically proven case of hepatic angiomyelolipoma associated with tuberous sclerosis.
