The development and application of electrospun glassy carbon nanofibers for ultra-thin layer chromatography (UTLC) are described. Binding, washing and elution conditions for MEP HyperCel chromatography were examined using two conditioned media (CM) containing monoclonal antibodies (humanized IgG1) and bovine serum albumin (BSA). 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoroisopropanol is re-examined as an eluent for size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) of polyesters, nylons, and other polar polymers. It is shown that anomalous SEC behavior reported in previous literature can be eliminated by adding 0.01 M tetraethylammonium nitrate to the eluent. The eluent modifier does not affect the solution viscosity or root-mean-square radii of moderately polar polymers such as polyesters and nylons, but it does decrease these quantities for more polar polymers such as poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(2-vinylpyridine). A simple chromatographic assay for Rab geranylgeranyltransferase (Rab GGTase) has been developed. The method involves separation of the reaction mixture on a Sephadex G-25 superfine minicolumn. Haemoglobin A2 levels were assessed using a modular high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) system with a protocol designed for the measurement of haemoglobin A1C. There was good correlation (r = 0.96; P < 0.001) between this technique and the International Committee for Standardisation in Haematology (ICSH) recommended method of microchromatography. Sour rot is a leading disease of citrus fruit caused by the postharvest pathogen Geotrichum citri-aurantii. It has been reported that essential oils can be used as substitutes for synthetic fungicides to control the pathogen.
