Evaluation of the Relationship between the Weight and Height Percentiles and the Sequence and Chronology of Eruption in Permanent Dentition.

The standard eruption of the permanent dentition in growing patients is influenced by multiple environmental factors. The objective of this research was to study the relationship between height and weight percentiles and the eruption of the permanent dentition. The design of the study was transversal based on the review of the clinical history, visual dental inspection, weight and height indicators, and their respective percentiles in patients in the mixed and definitive dentition stage. The descriptive and comparative analysis of the data was carried out with the statistical software R versio

Factors associated with the stability of compensatory orthodontic treatment of Class III malocclusion in the permanent dentition.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to assess the stability of compensatory treatment of Class III malocclusion in permanent dentition. METHODS: Thirty-six patients (21 women and 15 men; mean age, 20 years) with Class III malocclusion were subjected to the compensatory treatment of permanent dentition and followed up for at least 3 years after orthodontic treatment (T3). Multivariate Poisson regression was performed to assess the influence of clinical, cephalometric, and dental cast variables at the beginning (T1) and the end of treatment on the stability of Class III malocclusion. RESULTS: Overj

Treatment of unilateral buccal crossbites in the primary, early mixed, and permanent dentitions: case reports.

It is important to recognize the development of an arch-width problem in pediatric patients and to determine the best time to treat it. One of these conditions is the posterior (buccal) crossbite where one may also find an exaggerated overjet, caused by maxillary excess, and/or mandibular width deficiency. One may also find a mandibular midline deviation on the side of the crossbite, creating a long-term orthopedic problem with a mild facial asymmetry. When correction of this condition is attempted in adulthood a poor results can be expected making this the most important reason for early trea

Efficacy of theracal as pulp capping material in permanent dentition: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Vital pulp therapy (VPT) aims to preserve pulp vitality through minimally invasive approaches, including indirect pulp capping (IPC), direct pulp capping (DPC), and pulpotomy. TheraCal LC, a light-cured resin-modified calcium silicate material, is widely used as a pulp-capping agent due to its favorable handling characteristics and bioactive properties. However, its clinical and radiographic efficacy remains insufficiently documented. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of TheraCal LC in IPC and DPC procedures and compared its performanc

Association between malocclusion and other occlusions in mixed and permanent dentitions: a cross-sectional study.

INTRODUCTION: Malocclusion, a dental abnormality commonly found in children, has been associated with a risk of developing other occlusion problems. In the literature, no comparison has been made as to whether children with mixed or permanent dentition are more predisposed to occlusion problems from malocclusion. The present study aims to investigate various occlusion problems that may arise later in life due to malocclusion. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 500 children below the age of 12 years at Taibah University Hospital (Aug 2024-April 2025). Convenience sampling was used to

Time and sequence of the replacement of the deciduous by the permanent dentition in dogs and its applicability for age estimation.

This study investigated the influence of several covariates on the time and sequence of permanent dentition emergence following exfoliation of the deciduous teeth in puppies. The aim was to determine whether the emergence of permanent dentition can be used to assess whether a puppy that is traded across borders in the EU has reached the legally required minimum age of 15 weeks. The events were evaluated in a longitudinal study, with some cross-sectional observations, of 440 puppies belonging to 82 breeds. No significant differences were found between the left and right sides of a puppy's denti

Non-syndromic hypodontia of permanent dentition associated with other dental anomalies in children and adolescents.

Anomalies of permanent dentition, by the frequency of the cases, also correspond to some unanimously recognized problems of public health. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of non-syndromic hypodontia and oligodontia and to identify the types of associated dental anomalies in the permanent dentition of children and adolescents in the NW of Romania. The study was conducted between 2008 and 2015 on a group of 566 children aged between 12-18 years old. Dental agenesis was diagnosed using clinical and radiological criteria. The numbers and types of teeth missing were noted

Maxillary canine-first premolar transposition in the permanent dentition: treatment considerations and a case report.

Transposition is defined as the interchange of position between two adjacent teeth within the same quadrant of the dental arch. Permanent maxillary canine-premolar transposition is the most commonly observed transposition in the human dentition. Its prevalence is relatively low and its aetiology remains unclear, although it has been associated with genetic factors. It may also be related to a combination of localised factors such as malformation of adjacent teeth, tooth agenesis, retention of the deciduous canine and a history of local trauma. Treatment is selected on an individual case basis

Individual variation in tooth-size/ arch-length changes from the primary to permanent dentitions.

AIM: To determine the individual variation in the maxillary and mandibular tooth-size/arch-length relationships after the complete eruption of the primary dentition (mean age, 4.0 years) and at the time of eruption of the second permanent molars (mean age, 13.3 years). METHODS: Records of 32 males and 27 females were evaluated. Each subject had a clinically acceptable occlusion; that is, a normal molar and canine relationship at the time of eruption of the primary and permanent teeth. In addition, each subject had a complete set of data at the 2 stages of dental development. These selection c

Traumatic injuries to the primary dentition and effects on the permanent successors - a clinical follow-up study.

This study investigated problems in the permanent dentition that, according to history and records, were attributable to dental alveolar injuries of the primary dentition. 106 children have been involved in the study, who had experienced primary anterior tooth trauma affecting a total of 200 teeth. Thirty-nine patients (81 teeth) were available for follow-up examinations. In 25% of the cases followed up, damage was found on the successors in the secondary dentition (16 children/20 teeth). In half of the cases, a comparatively mild form of lesion like enamel discoloration was observed. This was

[What is the relation between the presence of caries in the deciduous dentition and the chronology of the eruption of the permanent teeth?].

Based on data obtained from a prospective epidemiological study in a random sample of 4468 Flemish children, accurate emergence ages for permanent teeth could be established. When data on permanent tooth emergence in different populations are compared, differences are most pronounced for premolars. Several authors hypothesised that this difference could be explained by a difference in caries experience in the primary molars. The purpose of this study was to quantify the effect of caries experience in a primary molar on the timing of emergence of its successor. The results indicate that the eme
