Acrocephalosyndactyly with hydrocephalus and dextrocardia in a Nigerian child.

A rare case of dextrocardia and hydrocephalus in a patient with acrocephalosyndactyly is reported. In the patient presented here, barium meal studies showed the gastrointestinal tract to be in normal position. There was no evidence of cardiac disease but the patient showed some neurological retardation at age nine months.

Dextrocardia and situs inversus in Sri Lanka.

Transposition of the viscera is an uncommon condition but no figures are available as to its prevalence in a tropical country. 31 cases of dextrocardia were seen among 110,603 persons examined at two chest clinics in Sri Lanka. A further 11 cases were detected by the reading of films taken at a tuberculosis prevalence survey in the general population in which 27,095 persons were examined after random selection. The incidence at the chest clinics was 1 in 3567, while the prevalence in the general population was 1 in 2500, perhaps the highest rate to be reported from any country. The prevalence …

[Coronary angiographic findings in dextrocardia (author's transl)].

This paper reports on four different types of dextrocardia in situs solitus and situs inversus. The topography of the atrial and ventricular cavities, of the great vessels and of the coronary arteries is described in detail. The value of the selective coronary arteriography in differentiation between the types of dextrocardia is discussed.

Severe Mitral Regurgitation in Mirror-Image Dextrocardia.

BACKGROUND: Mirror-image dextrocardia with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) is a rare congenital anomaly that significantly increases the complexity of transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair (TEER). CASE SUMMARY: We report the case of a 72-year-old woman with mirror-image dextrocardia and severe MR who underwent successful TEER using the MitraClip system. Because of the anatomic reversal, several procedural adaptations were required, including modified transesophageal echocardiography views, adjustments to atrial septal puncture technique, and novel strategies for delivering the clip …

Left-sided Poland's syndrome associated with dextrocardia.

Poland's syndrome is a rare congenital anomaly accompanied by the absence of the pectoralis major, and the ipsilateral upper-limb and chest wall deformities. Hypoplasia of the breast, agenesis of the ipsilateral rib cartilage, athelia, and ipsilateral developmental finger anomalies such as syndactyly can also be seen. In the literature, only 56 cases of dextrocardia and left-sided Poland's syndrome have been described. Herein, a case of left-sided Poland's syndrome coexisting with dextrocardia and nasal hemangioma was presented.

Poland sequence with dextrocardia: which comes first?

We report on two cases of Poland sequence (defect of the pectoralis major and hand on the same side) with dextrocardia, and review the literature on such patients. In all 16 reported cases, the Poland defect was on the left side, and associated with a rib defect, whereas most cases of Poland sequence involve the right side, and few have a rib defect. The dextrocardia appeared to be a dextroposition, and was not associated with other cardiac defects, whereas isolated dextrocardias (without situs inversus) frequently are. These observations suggest that the dextrocardia associated with Poland se…
