It is estimated that one in ten palliative care patients may benefit from a peripheral nerve block, and although many hospices have growing links and collaboration with pain colleagues, delays still persist, time our patients may not have. This case report documents serial fascia iliaca blocks performed in a hospice by a palliative care doctor, with significant benefits for a patient's pain and quality of life. It highlights that palliative care doctors may benefit from learning to deliver a handful of specific nerve blocks as part of their training.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate and discuss the plastic surgery treatment of asymmetric crying face.
METHODS: From 2019 to 2022, 60 patients with asymmetric crying face were treated by fascia lata grafting. We evaluated the postoperative improvement, summarized experiences and reviewed literatures about the treatment of asymmetric crying face.
RESULTS: 59 patients showed varying degrees of improvement in the movement of the affected corner of mouth, and no complications were found during the follow-up period of 6 months to 24 months.

Hypertrophy of the tensor fascia lata muscle is a rare entity that may be observed in patients presenting with a palpable mass in the antero-lateral aspect of the proximal thigh area. Imaging confirms the diagnosis of such a rare entity. This case report highlights a case of isolated hypertrophy of the tensor fascia lata muscle with no identifiable etiology. Biopsy and surgical intervention were not needed due to the interval stability throughout a three-year period. The orthopedic oncology team reassured the patient and followed up the patient annually.

The greater omentum is commonly used when there is a surgical indication for a barrier between an aortic graft and the abdominal contents. There are few other options when the omentum is not available. A novel approach is described for this purpose-Gerota's fascia flap. It is a simple, durable technique that can readily be used to provide extra tissue in the retroperitoneum for coverage of an aortic graft or possibly an aortic stump.

Ablative surgery for pyriform sinus cancer often leaves a defect which cannot be closed primarily. Many techniques for hypopharyngeal reconstruction have been described but no single technique can be recommended for use in all situations. The prevertebral fascia flap described in this article provides an alternative to hypopharyngeal repair when a more complex technique is contra-indicated. It is a one stage procedure, fashioned with locally available tissue, and technically simple. Its use in two anecdotal cases is described herewith.
