Migration of foreign bodies into the renal collecting system is very rare and usually concerns iatrogenically implanted objects. Migration of a foreign body from the gastrointestinal tract to the kidneys is even more rare. We present a case of migration of a wooden toothpick from the duodenum into the pelvis of the right kidney. The patient was not aware that he swallowed a toothpick; the foreign body resulted in hematuria and flank pain. The toothpick was missed during the initial computed tomography urography. Correct diagnosis was revealed by follow-up computed tomography. The toothpick was

Foreign-body reaction to material optically resembling silicone gel was evident in an axillary lymph node of a patient eight years after subcutaneous mastectomy for fibrocystic disease and breast reconstruction with a silicone gel-filled prosthesis. The lymph nodes. was removed as a component of a radical mastectomy for adenocarcinoma and Paget's disease of the nipple that had developed in the residual breast tissue and preserved nipple. Silicone gel may "bleed" through a structurally intact prosthetic envelope and subsequently migrate to regional lymph nodes

Foreign bodies are uncommon, and the migration of ingested or inserted foreign bodies within or out of the gastrointestinal tract is even rarer. Migration of foreign objects from the digestive system to the soft tissue in the neck, genitourinary tract, or abdominal cavity to intraluminal extension in bowel loops is an uncommon but well-reported occurrence. The accidentally retained surgical sponge (gossypiboma) following abdominal or pelvic surgery with transmural migration within the bowel is an extremely rare clinical presentation. The bowel can be penetrated by retained material, which move

Foreign bodies within the deep spaces of the neck pose infrequent but substantial risks involving migration, including infection, pseudoaneurysm formation, pneumothorax, hemopericardium, and embolization to the central circulation. A rare case of foreign body migration through the parapharyngeal space into the posterior cervical space is described from an intraoral needle shard. A 48-year-old male presented with a right neck tenderness, referred otalgia, and intermittent neck twitching after a needle fragment was lost during an inferior alveolar nerve block. A CT scan six months after the inci

A case of spontaneous extrusion of intraocular foreign body after 11 years is presented. Despite being magnetic and containing mostly iron the foreign body could not be removed in repeated magnet trials. It was retained in the ciliary body region for a very long time without causing siderosis. The foreign body was spontaneously extruded without any signs of intraocular inflammation.

Accidental ingestion of foreign bodies forms a major part of otorhinolaryngological emergencies. It is dangerous, as the foreign bodies tend to perforate the aerodigestive tract. Since endoscopy is diagnostic as well as therapeutic, it is preferred over computed tomography (CT) scan, especially in developing countries. We present a case of a middle-aged man who presented with fever, neck swelling, and a five-day history of accidental ingestion of a foreign body. He underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, which came out as normal. CT) imaging was performed, which showed migration of the for

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: The consequences of vocal fold paralysis include voice change, airway problems and difficulty swallowing. Medialisation procedures using injected material have been used for many decades, with varying outcomes, mainly secondary to lifespan, tissue reaction or migration. Newer materials have recently become clinically available which are easier to manage and supposedly less likely to elicit foreign body reaction.
METHOD OF STUDY: Case report.
RESULTS: We report a case of foreign body reaction and possible migration of polymethylsiloxane gel (Bioplastique), one such mater

The ingested foreign body is one of the commonest emergencies encountered by otolaryngologists Depending on the shape and duration of impaction, a small number of foreign bodies (1-2%) can perforate the wall of the gastrointestinal Tract. A migrated foreign body may remain quiescent or cause life-threatening suppurative and vascular complications. Data were collected retrospectively from the hospital records in a tertiary care hospital in South India from 2010 to 2020. Fifteen patients diagnosed with migrated foreign body and who underwent neck exploration were included in the study. Demograph

A rare case of thyroid foreign body is presented. The swallowed fish bone perforated the pharyngeal wall and migrated to the thyroid gland. The rarity of pathology caused diagnostic difficulties. Despite the correct diagnosis, wait-and-see tactics was initially chosen that delayed surgery and contributed to tissue inflammation. The stages of therapeutic and diagnostic process are analyzed. Endoscopy is not always effective, especially when foreign body migrates from pharyngeal lumen into soft tissues. Ultrasound and CT are necessary for topical diagnosis of migrated foreign body. These methods

BACKGROUND: Ingested foreign bodies are common emergencies encountered in otolaryngology practice. The vast majority can be managed with endoscopic removal. Migration of foreign bodies into the paraglottic space is a rare event that often necessitates using a more invasive procedure for removal.
CASE REPORT: A 68-year-old man presented with sore throat and odynophagia 4 days after ingesting a fish bone.
RESULTS: A computed tomography scan revealed a 2.5 cm linear foreign body embedded in the larynx within the right paraglottic space. The patient underwent endoscopic examination and transcerv

A previously healthy 1-year-old boy suddenly began choking and coughing after ingesting a coin. The child's mother attempted to extract the coin by inserting her fingers in his mouth and sweeping the oral cavity. The mother felt the object momentarily with her fingertips but was unable to retrieve it, and brought her son to a local hospital for assistance. The patient was referred to our emergency department (ED) for possible oesophageal obstruction by a foreign body based on the X-ray findings. On arrival at our ED, the child exhibited mild gagging but presented no respiratory symptoms and no

A peanut is a commonly inhaled foreign body during childhood. Some cases are difficult to diagnose especially in cases without a clear history of inhalation. We describe a 16-month-old boy presenting with stridor and fever. The chest x-ray suggested inhalation of a foreign body but there was no history of this. A high spot on a T1-weighted chest MRI was due to a peanut which was seen to have moved from the right main bronchus to the left inferior bronchus, between the two MRI studies. MRI can provide information on position and size of the peanut, the conditions of the surrounding tissues and
