This article describes a new technique for the arthroscopic reduction and fixation of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tibial avulsion fractures using bioabsorbable suture anchors. This described technique requires the use of anterolateral, anteromedial, medial mid-patellar, and lateral mid-patellar portals. A suture hook loaded with No. 2 polydioxanone (PDS) was used to pierce the ACL through the anteromedial or anterolateral portal, and bioabsorbable suture anchors were inserted through the medial and lateral mid-patellar portals. In acute trauma, posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury may occur concomitantly with a bony fracture and be easily overlooked. A popliteal artery injury associated with a tibial plateau fracture and PCL avulsion fracture is rare. Missed or delayed diagnosis of this condition leads to a high amputation rate. Few times innocuous looking tibial plateau fractures can reveal severe hidden injuries which have potentials of disastrous complications later in the life and therefore high degree of suspicion is required for accurate diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: To review the efficacy of lag screw fixation in management of avulsion fracture of the posterosuperior tuberosity of the calcaneus.

This case report describes a case of a high-speed injury in a patient with preexisting spinal segmentation abnormality, leading to anterior corner avulsion fracture of T1 and oesophageal perforation. As well as being indicative of anterior ligamentous injury, bony fragments associated with hyperextension injuries may injure adjacent viscera or vessels, and clinicians should consider the possibility of clinically occult visceral or vascular damage if such a fracture is demonstrated. Conservative management of both injuries was successful in this case.
