The Contribution of VKORC1 and CYP2C9 Genetic Polymorphisms and Patients' Demographic Characteristics with Warfarin Maintenance Doses: A Suggested Warfarin Dosing Algorithm.

The requirement of varying doses of warfarin for different individuals can be explained by environmental and genetic factors. We evaluated the frequency of vitamin K epoxide reductase complex subunit 1 (VKORC1) and cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) variants together with patientdemographic characteristics and investigated their association with warfarin dose requirement with the objective to suggest a warfarin dosing algorithm. In this study, 185 patients with heart valve replacement from West Azerbaijan, Iran were genotyped for VKORC1 (-1639 G>A) and CYP2C9 (*2 and *3 alleles) by PCR-RFLP. Multipl

A risk prediction algorithm based on family history and common genetic variants: application to prostate cancer with potential clinical impact.

Genome wide association studies have identified several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that are independently associated with small increments in risk of prostate cancer, opening up the possibility for using such variants in risk prediction. Using segregation analysis of population-based samples of 4,390 families of prostate cancer patients from the UK and Australia, and assuming all familial aggregation has genetic causes, we previously found that the best model for the genetic susceptibility to prostate cancer was a mixed model of inheritance that included both a recessive major gene

Solvent-Driven Conformational Landscapes of a Tetradentate Schiff Base Ligand and Its Metal Complexes: A Genetic Algorithm-Guided VCD Investigation.

Chiral salen ligands are a versatile platform for asymmetric catalysis, where understanding their conformational preferences is key to optimizing the stereo-inductive performance of their metal complexes. Here, we examine the conformational landscapes of (R)/(S)-N,N'-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylidene)-1-methyldiamine ligand and its Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes in CDCl3 solution using vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) and infrared (IR) spectroscopy, supported by extensive conformational searches and DFT calculations. Contrary to its benign reputation, CDCl3 profoundly alters the ligand confor

Resolving overlapped signals for respiratory drugs: a voltammetric and genetic algorithm-PLS-1 approach with enhanced sustainability for pharmaceutical and doping analysis.

The simultaneous electrochemical determination of co-formulated drugs with overlapping oxidation potentials poses a significant analytical challenge. This work reports the development and validation of a chemometrics-assisted voltammetric method for the concurrent analysis of ipratropium bromide (IPRA) and salbutamol (SAL) in their pharmaceutical combination and for SAL monitoring in urine. Using a copper(II) oxide-modified screen-printed electrode (CuO/SPE) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), well-defined but overlapping oxidation signals were obtained for both analytes in 0.1 M phospha

Artificial Neural Network Genetic Algorithm As Powerful Tool to Predict and Optimize In vitro Proliferation Mineral Medium for G × N15 Rootstock.

One of the major obstacles to the micropropagation of Prunus rootstocks has, up until now, been the lack of a suitable tissue culture medium. Therefore, reformulation of culture media or modification of the mineral content might be a breakthrough to improve in vitro multiplication of G × N15 (garnem). We found artificial neural network in combination of genetic algorithm (ANN-GA) as a very precise and powerful modeling system for optimizing the culture medium, So that modeling the effects of MS mineral salts ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], Ca2+, K+, [Formula: se

A Genetic Algorithm-Optimized Kernel Density Estimation and D-S Evidence Fusion Classification for Predicting the Stability of Double Perovskite Materials.

An accurate classification of material stability often requires fusing multiple features under uncertainty. Dempster-Shafer (D-S) theory is a powerful framework for multi-source information fusion under uncertainty. However, its effectiveness critically depends on the quality of basic probability assignments (BPAs), which are typically assigned heuristically. To overcome this limitation, we proposed a classification model that integrates genetic algorithm (GA)-optimized kernel density estimation (KDE) with a weighted D-S fusion strategy. The GA automatically selects the optimal kernel function

Detecting Risk Gene and Pathogenic Brain Region in EMCI Using a Novel GERF Algorithm Based on Brain Imaging and Genetic Data.

Fusion analysis of disease-related multi-modal data is becoming increasingly important to illuminate the pathogenesis of complex brain diseases. However, owing to the small amount and high dimension of multi-modal data, current machine learning methods do not fully achieve the high veracity and reliability of fusion feature selection. In this paper, we propose a genetic-evolutionary random forest (GERF) algorithm to discover the risk genes and disease-related brain regions of early mild cognitive impairment (EMCI) based on the genetic data and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imagin

Prenatal screening for chromosomal abnormalities in IVF patients that opted for preimplantation genetic screening/diagnosis (PGS/D): a need for revised algorithms in the era of personalized medicine.

Obstetricians offer prenatal screening for most common chromosomal abnormalities to all pregnant women including those that had in vitro fertilization (IVF) and preimplantation genetic screening/diagnosis (PGS/D). We propose that free fetal DNA in maternal circulation together with the second trimester maternal serum alfa feto protein (MSAFP) and ultrasound imaging is the best prenatal screening test for chromosomal abnormalities and congenital anomalies in IVF-PGD/S patients because risk estimations from all other prenatal screening algorithms for chromosomal abnormalities depend heavily on m

Genetic algorithm-guided sample design enables efficient machine learning-driven optimization of tauroursodeoxycholic acid production in engineered Escherichia coli.

Data-driven machine learning (ML) approaches offer powerful tools for modeling and optimizing complex fermentation processes, yet their application is often limited by the need for large experimental datasets, which is difficult to meet in low-throughput microbial fermentation systems. Here, we present a practical genetic algorithm (GA)-assisted adaptive sampling strategy to support sample-efficient ML-assisted optimization of microbial biotransformation processes. In this strategy, GA is employed upstream to iteratively select informative experimental conditions and generate a compact dataset
