UNLABELLED: A computerized data base identified 277 patients with violence-related ocular injuries seen during 16 months in an inner-city hospital. They constituted 35% of all patients with ocular injuries during the study period. Their demographics and ocular findings were analyzed. One hundred sixty-seven patients (60%) were black males, 60 (22%) were white males, and 50 (18%) were females (mean age, 29 years). But, in countries with undefined legal regulations and in war zones, urban violence is a tremendous social problem among older children and adolescents. Two hundred twenty-two patients admitted to a geriatric psychiatry unit were surveyed for the commission of acts dangerous to others. Eighteen of these patients had used either guns or knives in acts of violence. Racism and sexism are associated with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorder (SUD), yet few studies examine their role in co-occurring PTSD/SUD. Through qualitative interviews with 23 people of color with PTSD/SUD, we found that racism and sexism influence the onset of men and women of color's PTSD/SUD in gendered ways. This report describes four cases of male homosexual homicide committed in Split County, Croatia, in 1991 and 1995. The homosexual orientation of the victims was determined by police investigation. In late January of 2017, a Québec City-born deranged young man walked into the town's Great Mosque on Sunday evening during a prayer meeting and opened fire on the group of praying men gathered in the main hall, killing six (6), injuring five (5) of them and leaving thirty-five (35) later "rescued" people-men, women and children-behind, in a state of total shock, a municipal first in that quiet, peaceful city's history. It is difficult to review the epidemiology of juvenile violence because few studies focus specifically on this topic as opposed to childhood aggression or delinquency in general.
