Self-care behaviors among Iranian adults with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease based on the health belief model and structural equation modeling.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasingly recognized as a widespread chronic liver condition globally, with a prevalence of 33% in Iran (35% in males and 37% in females). Understanding health-related behaviors in NAFLD patients is crucial for designing effective interventions. This study is novel in applying the Health Belief Model (HBM) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine psychological determinants correlated with self-care behaviors among Iranian adults with NAFLD. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 513 NAFLD patients at the Internal Medicine Clinic of S

Health Belief Model to Assess Mpox Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices among Residents and Staff, Cook County Jail, Illinois, USA, July-August 2022.

In summer 2022, a case of mpox was confirmed in a resident at the Cook County Jail (CCJ) in Chicago, Illinois, USA. We conducted in-depth interviews with CCJ residents and staff to assess mpox knowledge, attitudes, and practices; hygiene and cleaning practices; and risk behaviors. We characterized findings by using health belief model constructs. CCJ residents and staff perceived increased mpox susceptibility but were unsure about infection severity; they were motivated to protect themselves but reported limited mpox knowledge as a barrier and desired clear communication to inform preventive a

Using the Health Belief Model To Assess the Impact of Latent Tuberculosis Infection Health Education Video Towards Screening Adoption in Non-US-Born Persons Living in California.

Tuberculosis (TB) disproportionately affects non-US-born people from TB-endemic countries. Previous studies demonstrated that educational interventions effectively increased knowledge, perception, and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) screening in at-risk people. Given the high prevalence of LTBI and active TB cases and the large proportion of non-US-born individuals with low LTBI awareness residing in California, this study sought to evaluate the impact of video-based LTBI education in this population. Using a pre-post study design, we evaluated the impact of a 5-minute LTBI educational vi

Microaggressions and Psychological Health Among College Students: A Moderated Mediation Model of Rumination and Social Structure Beliefs.

Racial microaggressions are common experiences for students of color on college campuses. Given prior research connecting microaggressions to negative mental health outcomes, it is important to better understand the social context and process through which microaggressions are associated with poorer mental health. In addition, we put forth a psycho-sociological approach to microaggressions, integrating an attention to both individual psychology and broader social structure. Specifically, the present study investigated whether the indirect association of school/workplace microaggressions and in

Factors Affecting COVID-19 Vaccination Intentions among Patients Attending a Large HIV Treatment Clinic in Trinidad Using Constructs of the Health Belief Model.

Persons living with HIV are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 and understanding the factors influencing their decision to take the COVID-19 vaccine are crucial. Using the Health Belief Model (HBM), our study examined the role of psychological factors in predicting vaccine intention in patients with HIV. The underlying concept of the HBM is that behaviour is determined by personal beliefs about a disease, and access to strategies to decrease its occurrence. A cross-sectional survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted between August and September 2021 at an HIV clinic in Trinidad. D
