This study investigated, for the first time, the oral effects of violacein (VIO) on key enzymes involved in gastric ulceration. Daily admini … ydrase (CA) by 157 % (p ≤ 0.009), which led to elevated levels of gastric mucin, glycoproteins, and hexosamines, reinforcing mucosal integrity. Antiulcerogenic effect of the alcoholic (ALJP) and aqueous (AQJP) extracts of the whole plant of Justicia prostrata was studied in aspirin+pylorus ligated rat models and analysed for gastric volume, ulcer index, free and total acidity. Glycosaminoglycan isolated from the urine of a patient with the Hunter syndrome was composed of heparan sulfate (59.9%), dermatan sulfate (30.6%) and chondroitin sulfate (9.5%), and was heterogeneous in molecular weight (1,500-10,000) and in sulfate content (0.35-2.05 moles/mole of hexosamine). Gaucher disease (GD) is the most common form of sphingolipidosis and is caused by a defect of beta-glucosidase (beta-Glu). INTRODUCTION: Limb-girdle myasthenia with tubular aggregates (LGM with TAs) is a subtype of congenital myasthenic syndrome caused by recessive mutations of glutamine-fructose-6-phosphate transaminase 1 (GFPT1).
METHODS: Clinical and neurophysiological assessment was made in a Korean boy who had proximal limb muscle weakness. Findings suggested a diagnosis of congenital myasthenic syndrome.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the mucosal protective effect on the quality of gastric ulcer healing.
METHODS: Gastric ulcers were induced in male rats by serosal application of acetic acid. Rats were gavaged for 14 days with saline, omeprazole (OME), teprenone (TEP) and TEP plus OME starting 3 days after ulcer induction. Then the tissues and blood samples were obtained and measured.

Oral treatment with silymarin was found to be effective in the prevention of gastric ulceration induced by cold-restraint stress, in rats. Hyaluronic acid (HA) was isolated from the dermis and epidermis of normal human skin and from normal and hypertrophic scar tissue, and the molecular properties of this polysaccharide were studied by circular dichroism (CD) and high performance liquid chromatography. The molecular weights of HA of normal skin and post-burn scar tissue range from 62,000 to 180,000. Antiulcer effects of geranylgeranylacetone (GGA) on aspirin-induced gastric ulcers in rats were studied, comparing them with those of gefarnate. The oral administration of GGA prevented the development of gastric ulcer induced by a single or repeated oral administration (5 consecutive days) of aspirin. The effects of GGA were more potent and more definite than those of gefarnate. The intraduodenal administration of GGA, but not the intragastric administration, also inhibited the ulceration induced by aspirin in pylorus-ligated rats, while the intraduodenal administration of gefarnate did not.
