BACKGROUND: Orbital mucormycosis caused by Zygomycetes is a rare and fatal infection that generally affects the patients who are immunocompromised. Despite antifungal therapy and aggressive surgical intervention, mucormycosis can cause serious and rapidly fatal infections if delayed diagnosis or therapeutic management occurs. Here, we report orbital mucormycosis in a healthy boy, with a favorable outcome after aggressive treatment. He has had no recurrence since the end of his treatment.

Undescended testis is one of the most common congenital anomalies requiring surgery. The guideline for the treatment of undescended testis was published by Japanese Society of Pediatric Urology in 2005. However, the management of undescended testis has been still controversial, particularly in case of impalpable testis including abdominal testis. In this article, we review our experience and published reports of orchiopexy for undescended testis and emphasize that the anatomical condition of undescended testis should be applied to individualized surgical treatment.

The belief that sadomasochism (SM) is violence or abusive behavior has resulted in harassment, physical attacks, and discrimination against SM-identified individuals. Historically, they were often opposed by self-identified feminists. One reason the women who practiced SM were targeted was the official opposition to sadomasochistic practices promulgated by the National Organization for Women (NOW). Current statistics of incidents of discrimination, harassment and physical attacks against SM-identified individuals and SM groups are compiled by the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF).

PURPOSE: To examine prognostic indicators in aggressive fibromatoses that may be used to optimize case-specific management strategy.
METHODS AND MATERIALS: One hundred and seven fibromatoses presenting between 1971 and 1992 were analyzed. The following treatment modalities were utilized: (a) surgery alone for 51 tumors; (b) radiation alone for 15 tumors; and (c) radiation and surgery (combined modality) for 41 tumors.
