PURPOSE: Small intestine-rectal fistulas are a rare and complex complication in Crohn's disease, posing significant diagnostic and management challenges. This study aims to investigate their distinctive features and evaluates surgical outcomes.

Vesicovaginal fistulas are devastating conditions for the affected women. The combination of a hysterectomy and radiation increases the fistula risk 5-10 times. Radiation-induced recurrent vesicovaginal fistulas have the lowest success rate and require the most demanding treatment. Fistulae arising from the intestinal tract are associated with significant morbidity and mortality rates. Most contemporary studies of fistulae report mortality rates between 6 and 20 per cent. Two female children, each who had a bronchogastric fistula and pulmonary sequestration (communicating bronchopulmonary foregut malformation, CBPFM) and associated malrotation of the intestine and Meckel's diverticulum are presented. Each child also presented with severe gastroesophageal reflux. The association of malrotation of the intestine and Meckel's diverticulum with a CBPFM never has been reported as a distinct entity. The concept of association of anomalies is discussed briefly.
