The intra-ocular pressure in 76 patients, undergoing Neodymium: YAG laser surgery was measured just before treatment, and one and two hours afterwards. The fellow eye served as a control. Serious elevation of the intra-ocular pressure was demonstrated, especially in capsulotomy in the aphakic eye, to a lesser extent in pseudophakic eyes. Intra-ocular pressure elevation of more than 20 mm was seen in iridectomies. Timolol 1/2% eyedrops given before Neodymium: YAG laser treatment minimized the elevation of the intra-ocular pressure. Seventeen patients, ranging in age from 40 to 86 years, developed pupillary block detected one week to three years after intraocular lens implantation. PURPOSE: To monitor the intraocular pressure (IOP) changes immediately after anterior chamber air tamponade in Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK).
METHODS: Twenty-four patients undergoing DMEK and 16 patients undergoing rebubbling after DMEK were enrolled (n = 40). All DMEK patients had inferior iridectomy and nearly full intracameral air tamponade with an aimed IOP of 25 mm Hg at the end of surgery. BACKGROUND: We report 2 cases in which ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) was used to diagnose Ahmed valve obstruction by the iris.
METHODS: Two patients underwent unilateral placement of Ahmed implants, one into the anterior chamber and the other into the ciliary sulcus.
RESULTS: Intraocular pressures increased in the early postoperative period. In each case, a clear view of the aqueous drainage tube was precluded. Occlusion of the end of the tube by iris tissue was demonstrated by UBM. An iridectomy over the tip of the tube instituted filtration in each case.

A small series of patients who underwent iridocycloretraction between 1969 and 1976 is analysed. All patients had previously undergone peripheral iridectomy for primary angle-closure glaucoma, and all had 360 degrees of peripheral anterior synechiae, as seen with the gonioscope. It was found that iridocycloretraction was successful in an unacceptably low percentage of cases, and its success was related to whether subconjunctival drainage was established.
