[Congenital cerebriform nevus cell nevus on the occiput. Removal after tissue expander implantation].

A 26 year old man presented with a giant cerebriform nevus on the occiput. Clinical appearance of the nevus, maceration within the folding and risk of malignancy prompted us to perform a complete excision. The scalp defect was closed with a rotation flap following an implantation of a tissue expander.

Blue nevus-like and blue nevus-associated melanoma: a comprehensive review of the literature.

BACKGROUND: Malignant blue nevus, blue nevus-associated melanoma and blue nevus-like melanoma are all terms used to describe malignant melanomas arising from, in association with, or resembling blue nevi. This review is aimed at summarizing the available literature to reduce the confusion surrounding this rare malignancy, and aid the surgeon in choosing further diagnostic or therapeutic measures. METHODS: We conducted a search of Medline, Embase, Science Direct, Scopus and the Cochrane Library for all full text articles published in English that reported on a malignant melanoma arising from, …

Malignant blue nevus arising in a giant congenital cellular blue nevus in an infant.

Giant congenital blue nevus (GCBN) is rare and usually occurs on the scalp. Malignant blue nevus (MBN) is also rare and has a poor prognosis. We report a case of MBN arising in a GCBN on the back. There have been three previous reports of MBN associated with GCBN on the trunk; our case had the earliest onset of MBN arising in a GCBN.

[A combination of psoriasis vulgaris and nevus cell nevus--clinical, histopathologic and histochemical findings].

In a study on 76 patients suffering from psoriasis, we found melanocytic nevi (MCN) within psoriatic lesions in 7%, and in perilesional areas of about 2 cm in 13% of the patients. Under magnification (operating microscope), we failed to detect any signs of psoriasis in both the epidermis covering the MCN and the adjacent epidermis. Histopathologically, 6 out of 7 MCN examined did not show any psoriatic alterations of the epidermis, and in all the 7 cases, the adjacent epidermis was free of psoriasis. Using unfixed frozen sections in histochemistry, we studied the lectin binding of FITC-labeled

Cerebriform sebaceous nevus: a subtype of organoid nevus due to specific postzygotic FGFR2 mutations.

BACKGROUND: Postzygotic mutations in FGFR2 have been identified in mosaic forms of acne, keratinocytic epidermal nevi, nevoid acanthosis nigricans / rounded and velvety epidermal nevus and in two fetuses with papillomatous pedunculated sebaceous nevus (PPSN). OBJECTIVES: To determine the clinical and genetic characteristics of children with cerebriform, papillomatous and pedunculated variants of sebaceous nevi. METHODS: Infants diagnosed with sebaceous nevi characterized by a cerebriform, papillomatous and/or pedunculated morphology over a 10-year period (2010-2019) at three paediatric derma…

Solomon's epidermal nevus syndrome (type: linear nevus sebaceus) and hypophosphatemic vitamin D-resistant rickets.

BACKGROUND: Epidermal nevus syndrome is very variable in symptoms and associated abnormalities. Synonyms of this syndrome are linear nevus sebaceus syndrome or Schimmelpenning-Feuerstein-Mims syndrome or Solomon syndrome. The combination with vitamin D-resistant rickets is rare and only sporadically described. Less than 10 cases with this combination of symptoms have been described in the literature. OBSERVATIONS: We describe a boy suffering from epidermal nevus syndrome (type: nevus sebaceus). This child also presented with severe rickets with hyperphosphaturia, resistant to vitamin D. Our p…

Nevus Spilus (Speckled Lentiginous Nevus) in the Oral Cavity: Report of a Case and Review of the Literature.

The congenital melanocytic nevus is a pigmented melanocytic lesion that presents at birth or shortly thereafter. It is commonly described on the skin, usually on the trunk and extremities. Only five intraoral cases of congenital melanocytic nevi have been described in the English literature. A nevus spilus (speckled lentiginous nevus) is a clinical variant of congenital melanocytic nevus. The authors present the case of a 19-year-old male with an intraoral nevus spilus. The anterior mandibular gingiva exhibited multiple speckled, pigmented papules and macules on a thickened, hyperplastic macul…

Cellular blue nevus with nevus cells in regional lymph nodes: a lesion that mimics melanoma.

We report the case of a young man who had a large, firm, nodule covered by darkly pigmented skin over the outer aspect of the right ankle and palpable right inguinal lymph nodes. The mole had enlarged rapidly during the past month, contained deeply pigmented cells with increased cellularity and mitotic activity and groups of intensely pigmented nevus cells within the marginal sinus of the inguinal nodes. The excised mass with inguinal lymphadenectomy was reported as benign cellular nevus with benign nevus cell aggregates in lymph nodes. The purpose of this report is to emphasize how cellular b…

Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome.

Gastrointestinal bleeding of obscure origin accounts for less than 5% of gastrointestinal hemorrhages. It is typically difficult to diagnose due to limited accessibility through standard endoscopic techniques and generally requires a significant number of procedures to reach a diagnosis. The "blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome" is a rare condition, of a probably hereditary origin, characterized by the presence of multiple hemangiomatous lesions, which can manifest as gastrointestinal bleeding of obscure origin. These lesions are generally nodular, rubbery to the touch, and have a submucosal appea…

Giant congenital facial melanocytic nevus.

Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus (GCMNs) is mostly reported in area of trunk followed by limbs and head. Their incidence is <1:20,000 newborns It derives attention due to its association with malignant melanoma. The risk of developing malignant melanoma is between 5 to 10%.We report a case of twelve year old boy with hyperpigmented lesion on face.
