Sensitivity to antibacterial drugs of 510 strains of Shigella Newcastle isolated from both sporadic patients and cases during the disease outbreaks was studied. The studies revealed a rather high percentage of Shigella Newcastle resistant to the antibiotics widely used in clinical practice. PURPOSE: Furazidin is a nitrofuran derivative used in Eastern Europe (e.g., Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) and Russia for treating uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTI), while nitrofurantoin, another nitrofuran, is a widely used for this indication. This study (23-ADA-01) evaluated the activity of furazidin, nitrofurantoin, and fosfomycin against bacterial isolates collected between 2020 and 2022 from female UTI patients in 19 European and the Mediterranean countries.

Aeromonas species often cause disease in farmed fish. In the present study, dominant bacteria were isolated from diseased crucian carp (Cara … g sensitivity testing showed that the isolate was susceptible to aminoglycosides, carbapenemes, and nitrofurans. Exploring its growing features showed that this isolate exhibited a high level of environmental adaptability. These results provided a scientific basis for the identification of A. veronii and treatment for fish infected by this pathogen.

The response of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to antibacterial drugs is remarkably stable and is characterized by multiresistance.
