The acro-osteolysis syndrome consists of dissolution of terminal phalanges of the hands and feet, dolichocephaly with multiple wormian bones, delayed closure of cranial sutures, absence of frontal sinuses, a prominent occipital ridge, skeletal demineralization, vertebral and extremity fractures, joint laxity, and coarse hair. Studies of bone morphology reveal diminished bone density and bone formation. Osteoblasts have widely dilated smooth endoplasmic reticulum. It is postulated that an abnormality of a structural protein is the pathogenic basis of this disease.

PURPOSE: The current study was designed to evaluate the rate of osteolysis and the clinical and functional outcomes in patients who underwent mini-open rotator cuff repairs using first generation bioabsorbable suture anchors. OBJECTIVE: To describe the CT findings of focal osteolysis following total hip replacement (THR).
DESIGN AND PATIENTS: CT imaging features of 30 THRs with focal osteolysis visualized on follow-up radiographs and undertaken revision surgery were reviewed. On CT scans, the shape and anatomic location of osteolytic lesions was recorded, as well as their size and number. The presence of cortical disruption or expansion, liner wear, metallosis, and heterotopic ossification was also noted. PURPOSE: To report unusual bilateral corneal opacity and inferior corneal thinning in a patient with idiopathic multicentric osteolysis.
METHODS: A 17-year-old girl with a history of idiopathic multicentric osteolysis was evaluated for corneal opacities.
RESULTS: She was found to have bilateral, linear, posterior corneal opacity and inferior corneal thinning. Her vision did not appear to be affected. No progression of the corneal findings was noted over a period of 2 years.

We report the incidence of osteolysis in the femur, tibia, and patella of 44 consecutive patients (60 knees) who were followed for more than seven years after cementless knee arthroplasty with a Porous-Coated Anatomic prosthesis. In a nine year old girl pancreatitis was suspected after roentgenologic demonstration of osteolytic lesions in the short bones of her hands and feet. Similar to the 18 cases found in the literature she had upper abdominal trauma in her history, and as in 6 other cases there was a history of child abuse and battering. There was complete remission of the lesions following operation of the pancreatic pseudocyst. In this disease pseudocysts develop very often, they were found in 12 of the 18 cases reported. There is no valid explanation of the pathogenetic mechanism leading to osteolytic lesions.
