BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Adequate cycloplegia and dilation are required for refraction and fundus exam in children. Standard practice is to instill cycloplegic drops in the inferior cul-de-sac, and this is often traumatic for children. We present the case of a four-year-old girl with bilateral keratoconus secondary to chronic persistent eye rubbing. She was referred to our clinic with intractable ocular itching and low vision. METHODS: Right eye data from 203 Down syndrome patients (mean ± standard deviation age: 17.0 ± 4.7 years) and 189 age- and gender-matched normal subjects (17.1 ± 4.5 years) were compared. This study is done to find out the refractive status of medical students of Mymensingh Medical College (MMC), Mymensingh, Bangladesh. They are of the age of 17-19 years. This is a nonrandom purposive cross sectional study done at late part of the November 2008. High-grade corneal astigmatism is considered to be an indication for pterygium surgery. However, no prospective studies have been carried out to determine whether a pterygium operation really reduces preoperative astigmatism. The purpose of this study was to describe the ocular refractive state (ORS) of fighting bulls. The study consisted of 90 ophthalmological healthy animals (85 in post-mortem and 5 in living conditions, resp.). The ORS of the eyes (2 per animal) was determined using streak retinoscopy.
