Mental Disorders Among Healthcare Workers During the Coronavirus Pandemic.

INTRODUCTION: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease that has become a regular part of care by health services. In the beginning, health services faced immense pressure due to new disease exposure, irregular schedules, and high work stress for healthcare workers. Unfortunately, their mental health was not adequately safeguarded, and there are few healthcare units that screen staff for depression and anxiety. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to describe the prevalence and factors associated with anxiety and depression diagnoses among healthcare workers during the coronavirus

[Challenges and countermeasures on Chinese malaria elimination programme during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak].

Since the end of 2019, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been extensively epidemic in China, which not only seriously threatens the safety and health of Chinese people, but also challenges the management of other infectious diseases. Currently, there are still approximately three thousand malaria cases imported into China every year. If the diagnosis and treatment of malaria cases as well as the investigation and response of the epidemic foci are not carried out timely, it may endanger patients'lives and cause the possible of secondary transmission, which threatens the achievements o

Increasing identification of foot at risk of complications in patients with diabetes: a quality improvement project in an urban primary health centre in India.

The majority of foot amputations are preventable in people with diabetes. Guidelines recommend that people with diabetes should receive a foot examination for risk assessment, at least annually. In an audit at a primary health centre (PHC) in Mumbai, India, no patient with diabetes was offered preventive foot assessment in preceding 12 months. Problem analysis identified a lack of clinic policy, training and equipment for foot assessment. There was no standardised referral pathway for patients identified with foot at risk of diabetes complications. Furthermore, limited data review, high patien

What happens when you wait? Effects of Social Security Disability Insurance wait time on health and financial well-being.

While waiting for a decision, individuals who apply for Social Security Disability Insurance face strong incentives to remain out of the labor force and receive no support from the program. An extended period with low income, high uncertainty, and lowered access to health insurance has the potential to harm applicants' well-being along many dimensions. In this study, I estimate the effect of initial wait time on health, healthcare access, and financial well-being, using the prevailing wait at the time an applicant applied as an instrument for their own initial wait. I find that a longer wait d

Implementation and Assessment of Facilitation Support for Improving Health Insurance Coverage in Achham.

Health insurance is a critical strategy for achieving universal health coverage, reducing out-of-pocket (OOP) healthcare expenditures, and improving access to healthcare services. Despite the implementation of the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) in Nepal, enrolment and renewal rates remain low, particularly in districts like Achham. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of facilitation support, delivered through patient navigators, enrolment assistants, and community health workers (CHWs), in increasing health insurance coverage.  Methods: A mixed-methods approach was employed.

Recognising dying in motor neurone disease: A scoping review.

INTRODUCTION: Timely identification of dying in motor neurone disease enables optimal care, yet we know that healthcare professionals can fail to recognise when death is approaching. Clinical factors help predict the end of life in other terminal conditions. Examining these principles in motor neurone disease would help guide more accurate recognition of this critical phase. AIM: To examine and map out what is known about dying in patients with motor neurone disease, and the recognition of dying by healthcare professionals. DESIGN: A scoping review was conducted following the Arksey and O'Ma

A study protocol for integrating outpatient services at the primary health care level as part of the universal health coverage benefit package within the national health insurance program of Pakistan through private health facilities.

INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Pakistan has a mixed-health system where up to 60% of health expenditures are out of pocket. Almost 80% of primary healthcare (PHC) facilities are in the private sector, which is deeply embedded within the country's health system and may account for the unaffordability of healthcare. Since 2016, the existing national health insurance program or Sehat Sahulat Program (SSP), has provided invaluable coverage and financial protection to the millions of low-income families living in Pakistan by providing inpatient services at secondary and tertiary levels. However, a key gap i

Malignant Pleural Effusions: Updates in Diagnosis and Management.

Malignant pleural effusions remain a significant clinical problem resulting in greater than 125,000 hospitalizations per year and leading to over 5 billion dollars in healthcare utilization costs. Not only are health care expenditures related to malignant pleural effusion significant, but malignant pleural effusions also often result in significant patient discomfort and distress, largely at the end of life. Advances in management over the past several years have provided patients with greater autonomy as they are able to provide self-aid at home either alone or with family assistance. Additio

Reconfigurable security solution based on hopfield neural network for e-healthcare applications.

In the healthcare sector, e-diagnosis through medical images is essential in a multi-speciality hospital; securing the medical images becomes crucial for preserving an individual's privacy in e-healthcare applications. So, this paper has proposed a novel encryption scheme implemented on reconfigurable hardware. Realising image encryption schemes on FPGA hardware platforms offers substantial advantages over software implementations. The image-specific key and Hopfield Neural Network (HNN) carry out the diffusion process using the suggested encryption method. The confusion is accomplished simult
