BACKGROUND: Injury surveillance is the cornerstone of effective injury management. However, to date no studies using recommended methods and involving multiple nations have been conducted within International Cricket.
AIM: To conduct injury surveillance across multiple teams during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
METHODS: An electronic system, based on the guidelines for injury surveillance in international cricket, was used to record all new injury episodes was used for data collection.

The present study was undertaken in sportsmen of those groups of sports activities where weight training exercises constitute a major part of the training. Two groups consisting of 25 weight-lifters and 25 track and field athletes were studied to find out the effect of sports activities and lifting weights on the spine. 84% weight-lifters and 72% track and field athletes suffered from varying abnormalities. The aim of this study was to determine long term changes in shoulder and elbow joints of former elite javelin throwers. Twenty-one elite javelin throwers were examined at an average of 19 years after the end of their high performance phase. Mean age at examination was 50 years. In order to assess the performance of subjects with sickle cell trait (SCT) during brief and explosive exercise involving mainly alactic anaerobic metabolism, the percentage of athletes with SCT was determined in Ivory Coast track and field throw and jump champions, both men and women, for the period 1956-1995. A 55-year-old woman with a dual-chamber pacemaker presented with brief episodes of rapid palpitation. The device recorded several stored atrial high-rate and ventricular high-rate episodes. The atrial intervals showed an interesting railroad track pattern during a non-sustained episode of ventricular tachycardia. We discussed the differential diagnosis of railroad track patterns on the atrial channel. In our case, it was related to far-field R-wave oversensing.
