Verrucous carcinoma of the penis (Buschke-Lowenstein tumour): a clinico-pathological study.

The variant of squamous carcinoma of the penis known as verrucous carcinoma is an uncommon but distinct clinical and pathological condition which has a significantly better prognosis than the more common infiltrative type. We report seven cases from a continuing larger study of the disease and discuss the clinical features, the histological criteria for diagnosis and the methods of treatment available.

[Local treatment of urethral condylomata by 5-fluorouracil].

4 male patients suffering from urethral condylomata were treated with local 5-Fluorouracil. 3 different ways of application were used: Gel, Suppositories and Cream (5%). Treatment for 5.2 weeks on the average lead to disappearance of the condylomata in all patients. Recurrence of the disease was not observed during the following 6 months. Side-effects did not appear.

[Papillomatous changes in the cervix uteri].

A case of condyloma acuminatum of the uterine cervix and a case of papilloma on the cervix with concomitant adenocarcinoma of the cervix are described. The diagnostic biopsy revealed only the papillomatous lesion, whereas the adenocarcinoma was diagnosed in the surgical specimen after hysterectomy. Referring to the studies of Meisels et al. on condylomatous lesions of the cervix, the possible frequent incidence of this cervical lesion and its role as one possible first step in the pathogenesis of cervical cancer are discussed. The in toto excision is recommended because of diagnostic and thera

Determinant of recovery, recurrence and recurrence-free interval of condyloma acuminata: A five-year cross-sectional data from a provincial referral hospital in Indonesia.

Condyloma acuminata is a common sexually transmitted disease caused by human papillomavirus infection and is characterized by frequent recurrence despite available therapies. This study evaluated recovery, recurrence, and recurrence-free interval across therapeutic modalities among condyloma acuminata outpatients at Dr. Moewardi Regional General Hospital, Surakarta, Indonesia, from January 2020 to December 2024. Using a cross-sectional analysis of medical records, 132 eligible patients were included and analyzed with bivariate tests. Treatment modality was not significantly associated with rec

Topical treatment of anal condylomata with Propionibacterium acnes lysate: results of a multicentric observational study.

BACKGROUND: Condylomata are a manifestation of HPV infection of the ano-genital epithelium. Recurrence is frequent after any type of treatment (from 20% up to 50%). We assessed the use of a gel containing panthenol, tocopheryl acetate and Propionibacterium extract in the treatment of anal warts. METHODS: Enrollment period was from January 15 to June 15, 2018. Main exclusion criteria were immunodepression, extensive condylomatosis and other treatments (topical/ablative) in the previous six months. RESULTS: Seventy-nine patients were included. Median age was 33 years (19-65), 72.2% were males.

"Free-Floating Anus": A Flap-Free Approach for Definitive Excision of Circumferential Giant Condyloma Acuminata.

Giant condyloma acuminata (GCA), or Buschke-Löwenstein tumor, is a rare exophytic cauliflower-like growth in the anogenital region. The spectrum of treatment options is wide, ranging from the application of topical ointments to the performance of an abdominoperineal resection. Currently, wide local excision is the most common approach and may entail the creation of a protective loop ileostomy or implementation of flaps or grafts that facilitate closure. We describe a unique surgical approach for the management of circumferential GCA void of the use a protective loop ileostomy, flaps, or grafts

Condyloma and Anal Dysplasia.

Anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN) are precancerous lesions and are sequela of human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. AIN is classified as low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion or high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. Screening with anal cytology and anoscopy should be considered for high-risk populations. Diagnosis is made through high resolution anaoscopy and biopsy. Options for treatment include ablation and several topical therapies; however, recurrence rates are high for all treatment options, and an ongoing surveillance is necessary to prevent progression to anal squamous cel

Successful application of aminolevulinic acid/photodynamic therapy in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum in a young child.

BACKGROUND: Condyloma acuminatum is a benign proliferative lesion of the genitalia and perianal region caused by human papillomavirus infection, which is rare in children. Traditional treatments include topical medications, CO2 laser therapy, cryotherapy, and surgical resection, which are often associated with pain, scarring, and recurrence. In recent years, aminolevulinic acid/photodynamic therapy has been applied as a new method for treating condyloma acuminatum in adults. However, its application in young children is limited. We herein report a case of condyloma acuminatum treated by aminol

Intralesional injection of purified protein derivative versus Candida antigen in treatment of genital warts.

The Genital warts are common sexually transmitted diseases caused by definite types of human papillomavirus. There are many strategies for the treatment of genital wart and intralesional immunotherapy is considered to be a safe and effective treatment modality. However, there are lack of studies that comparing the clinical effectiveness of intralesional purified protein derivative (PPD) and Candida antigen (CA) in genital wart treatment. To investigate the effectiveness and safety of PPD and CA in the treatment of genital warts. Eighty patients were enrolled in this study and were randomly div

Quantifying the under-reporting of uncorrelated longitudal data: the genital warts example.

BACKGROUND: Genital warts are a common and highly contagious sexually transmitted disease. They have a large economic burden and affect several aspects of quality of life. Incidence data underestimate the real occurrence of genital warts because this infection is often under-reported, mostly due to their specific characteristics such as the asymptomatic course. METHODS: Genital warts cases for the analysis were obtained from the Catalan public health system database (SIDIAP) for the period 2009-2016. People under 15 and over 94 years old were excluded from the analysis as the incidence of gen
