The degradation performance of trichloroethylene (TCE) by sodium percarbonate (SPC) activated with citric acid (CA) chelated Fe(II) in the presence of nonionic surfactant Tween-80 was investigated. The addition of CA successfully prevented the precipitation of iron and facilitated TCE degradation. Iron deficiency anaemia is a common problem. The majority of patients are treated with oral iron supplements. The current recommended dosage for oral supplementation of 200 mg ferrous fumarate 3x per day however, is based on a single small study of poor quality. We present the case of a female patient who grinded a ferrous sulfate tablet and placed it at the conjunctival fornix of her left eye. She rapidly developed severe ocular siderosis, with profoundly decreased visual acuity, corneal opacities, cataract, retinal degeneration and ultimately phthisis bulbi. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the consequences of application of an iron tablet on the conjunctiva.

In this study, we demonstrate that the presence of oxygen molecule can inhibit Cr(VI) removal with core-shell Fe@Fe2O3 nanowires at neutral pH of 6.1. 100% of Cr(VI) removal was achieved by the Fe@Fe2O3 nanowires within 60 min in the anoxic condition, in contrast, only 81.2% of Cr(VI) was sequestrated in the oxic condition. Formation of dinitrosyl iron complexes (DNICs) was observed in a wide spectrum of pathophysiological conditions associated with overproduction of NO. To gain insight into the possible genotoxic effects of DNIC, we examined the interaction of histidinyl dinitrosyl iron complexes (HIS-DNIC) with DNA by means of circular dichroism. We report the synthesis and photocatalytic removal of Cr(VI) from water of hierarchical micro/nanostructured Fe(2+)/TiO(2) tubes. The TiO(2) tubes fabricated by a facile solvothermal approach show a three-level hierarchical architecture assembled from dense nanosheets nearly vertically standing on the surface of TiO(2) microtube. The nanosheets with a thickness of about 20 nm are composed of numerous TiO(2) nanocrystals with size in the range of 15-20 nm. Complex formation of (7,13-dimethyl-2,3,8,12,17,18-hexaethylcorrolato)iron chloride, [(7,13-Me(2)Et(6)C)FeCl], with cyanide ion in dimethylformamide, DMF-d(7), was studied by (1)H NMR spectroscopy.
