DynamicTHOR: A Scalable Dataset of Human-Centric Dynamic Scenes for Embodied AI.

Although many existing works have studied probabilistic or dynamic environments where the objects used in daily life may be moved due to human activities, the scale of datasets is usually limited due to the cost of human annotation or manual configuration. This paper introduces a framework that simulates human activities and corresponding object dynamics using Large Language Models (LLMs) and applies the simulated human residents to embodied scenes to generate dynamic scenes. Using this framework, we craft a dataset named DynamicTHOR with 50 characters and 100 dynamic scenes, which can be easi…

Promise, Mimicry, and Surveillance: Responsibly Integrating Artificial Intelligence With Socratic Inquiry in Medical Education.

Large language models are increasingly proposed as a way to deliver Socratic dialogue at scale in medical education, offering personalized, always-available, and lower-stakes inquiry that human educators cannot logistically provide. In this viewpoint, I argue that this promise is plausible but unproven and that 2 failure modes deserve more attention than they currently receive. The first is the mimicry trap: a system that fluently generates Socratic-sounding questions can appear to cultivate reasoning while functioning as interactive content delivery. I position this as an educational instance…

Measuring the psychological restorative quality of urban spaces: a vision language model-based method.

Well-designed urban environments crucially mitigate stress and enhance mental well-being through their restorative qualities. However, subjective surveys lack spatial scalability, while objective machine learning often fails to capture the complexity of human perceptual experiences. To address this gap, this study proposes a hybrid framework based on Vision Language Models (VLMs) and human experiences to assess the restorative quality of urban spaces. Using Shenzhen, China as a case study, we gathered subjective and objective knowledge from PRS-11 surveys and ChatGPT-4 descriptions of 566 stre

Autonomous skeletal landmark localization toward agentic C-arm control.

PURPOSE: Automated C-arm positioning ensures timely treatment in patients requiring emergent interventions. When a conventional deep learning (DL) approach for C-arm control fails, clinicians must revert to manual operation, resulting in additional delays. Consequently, an agentic C-arm control framework based on multimodal large language models (MLLMs) is highly desirable, as it can incorporate clinician feedback and use reasoning to make adjustments toward more accurate positioning. Skeletal landmark localization is essential for C-arm control, and we investigate adapting MLLMs for autonomou…

CPS-Net (Collaborating Physicians in Silico Network): A Decentralized Multi-Agent Transformer Framework for Specialty-Aware Disease Prediction.

Diagnosis in real clinical settings is rarely finalized after a single encounter. Patients with complex conditions move through a referral network from primary care to specialists because physicians cannot maintain expertise across all diseases. Yet most diagnostic prediction tools apply a single generalist model across thousands of medical codes, which dilutes representational capacity for rare conditions and produces outputs poorly aligned with how clinicians actually work and reason. We present CPS-Net, a decentralized agent swarm that mirrors medical specialization hierarchies. The system

Integrating Protein Language Models with Multimodal Embeddings to Accelerate Function Prediction of Uncharacterized Proteins.

Accurate prediction of protein function is fundamental to progress in biotechnology and biomedicine, yet progress remains severely hampered by the widening chasm between exponentially growing genomic data and the limited capacity for functional annotation. High-throughput sequencing and metagenomics have driven an explosion in sequence data that far outstrips experimental characterization. UniProt now contains over 203 million protein entries, of which only ~2% have been experimentally validated. This widening "sequence-function gap" exceeds the reach of traditional homology-based tools such a

Medical Article Assessment Using Artificial Intelligence.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The worthiness of a medical article is not known until it is read and critically evaluated. A process using artificial intelligence (AI) was developed and assessed to do that for a specific article. METHODS: A medical article was uploaded to an AI large language model program with instructions to answer specific bounded questions about that article only, its methodological components, assessment of findings, and appropriateness and validity of conclusions. Fifty articles were evaluated and compared using AI and human assessment. RESULTS: Agreement was found 89% of

It Is the Journey, Not the Destination: Moving From End Points to Trajectories When Assessing Chatbot Mental Health Safety.

Large language models are rapidly becoming embedded in everyday life through artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots that people use for practical assistance and companionship, as well as for support with mental health and emotional well-being. Alongside clear benefits, clinicians and public reports increasingly describe a minority of users whose interactions seem to drift over days or weeks toward strongly questionable convictions, delusions, or suicidal crises. Importantly, clinically meaningful deterioration can occur even without overtly unsafe text outputs, via more insidious processes, suc…

An LLM canary in the online data coalmine: Bayesian reasoning problems as a capability-gap test for LLM contamination in online samples.

The growing use of large language models (LLMs) by participants in online studies threatens the validity of behavioral research data. I propose that Bayesian reasoning problems, which have decades of well-replicated human performance benchmarks, can serve as calibrated detectors of LLM contamination in online samples - an approach I call a capability-gap test. In two preregistered pilots of a Bayesian reasoning training tool (N = 148), participants' accuracy on positive predictive value (PPV) calculation problems reached roughly three times established human performance ceilings. Specifically,…

Modular Framework for Responsive and Explainable Robotic Assistance with Intention Prediction Using Human-Centric Digital Twins.

Proactive robotic assistance in human-robot collaboration (HRC) requires systems that can perceive evolving task contexts, anticipate user needs, and intervene appropriately without disrupting human workflow. We present the Agentic Unified Robotic Assistance (AURA) Framework, which couples Large Language Model (LLM) reasoning grounded by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with a modular layer of specialized Intent, Motion, Perception, Sound, Affordance, and Performance Monitors that supply structured context to a central decision-making module, making the framework reconfigurable and auditab

Systematic contextual biases in SegmentNT potentially relevant to other nucleotide transformer models.

Recent advances in large language models have extended to genomic applications, yet model robustness relative to context is unclear. Here, we demonstrate two intrinsic biases (input sequence length and nucleotide position) affecting SegmentNT results, a model included with the Nucleotide Transformer that provides nucleotide-level predictions of biological features. We demonstrate that nucleotide position within the input sequence (beginning, middle, or end) alters the nature of SegmentNT's raw prediction probabilities, which can be standardized to improve prediction consistency. While longer i…

SiBot: A hybrid framework for fine-grained semantic attribution of AI-generated text and its production deployment.

Large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and DeepSeek now generate text that is routinely indistinguishable from human writing, yet virtually every deployed detector answers only one binary question: human or AI. This is the wrong question for the settings that matter most. Digital forensics needs to know which model produced a text; academic-integrity adjudication needs to know whether a human was involved at all; and neither can be answered by a single probability, least of all for the hybrid human-AI drafts that now dominate real-world writing. This paper addresses that gap wit…

OsteoRAG: Retrieval-augmented generation for evidence-based osteoporosis knowledge management.

The exponential growth of biomedical literature poses significant challenges for knowledge management in specialized domains such as osteoporosis. While Large Language Models (LLMs) offer advanced natural language understanding capabilities, their direct application in high-risk medical contexts is hindered by hallucination risk, static knowledge, and limited traceability. This paper proposes a domain-specific Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system tailored for osteoporosis knowledge management, integrating authoritative sources from the International Osteoporosis Foundation and China's N…

Disparate language and model effects on AI-based translation and recognition of genetic conditions.

INTRODUCTION: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly prevalent. Patients and clinicians may use AI-based tools in many different languages. OBJECTIVE: To investigate AI translation tools for descriptions of genetic conditions and how AI identification of genetic conditions is affected by translations. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We used Neural machine translation (NMT) and large language-model (LLM) translation to translate descriptions of 40 genetic conditions into 191 and 93 languages, respectively. Excluding translations retaining English medical terms verbatim, we respectively focused o

Natural Language Processing Applied to Psychiatric Clinical Notes: Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Psychiatric clinical notes in electronic health records (EHRs) provide rich longitudinal information that can support clinical decision-making. Using historical medical data can enable earlier identification of mental illness, better characterization of disease trajectories, and more personalized treatment planning. Natural language processing (NLP) transforms these unstructured notes into analyzable representations for research and care. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to systematically summarize NLP methodologies for psychiatric clinical notes, compare major modeling paradigms and ap

Integrating Anomaly Detection and LLM-Based Explanation Generation in Clinical Data Dashboards.

This paper presents an integrated approach that combines unsupervised anomaly detection with large language model (LLM)-based explanation generation to enhance the interpretability of clinical study dashboards. Using data from the P4D (Personalized, Predictive, Precise, and Preventive Medicine for Major Depression) cohort study, an Isolation Forest algorithm was employed to identify atypical observations within multidimensional clinical data. A t-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) projection was used to assess the plausibility of detected outliers. To improve transparency for cl

Performance of ChatGPT in Israeli Arabic-language OBGYN national medical licensure exam.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies of ChatGPT performance in the field of medical exams have reached contradictory results. The performance of ChatGPT in languages other than English, including Arabic, which is the official language of medical education and practice in many countries, has yet to be explored. We aim to evaluate the performance of ChatGPT in Arabic-language Israeli OBGYN medical licensure exams for foreign university alumni. METHODS: We conducted a performance study using a consecutive sample of text-based multiple-choice questions, originated from authentic Arabic-language Israeli OB

Interpretable Feature Extraction from Clinical Notes for Sepsis Prediction: Comparing Rule-Based, LLM, and Hybrid Approaches.

Embedding-based approaches integrate clinical notes into sepsis prediction models but produce uninterpretable representations, obscuring which clinical findings drive predictions, and limiting both trust and regulatory acceptance. We compared three frameworks for extracting interpretable features from MIMIC-III clinical notes (217 sepsis cases, 2,170 controls): rule-based (M1), zero-shot LLM with retrieval-augmented generation (M2), and hybrid combining symbolic pre-filtering with LLM quantification (M3), evaluating 19 SOFA, qSOFA, and SIRS-based features using expert validation of 190 predict

LaMGen: LLM-based 3D molecular generation for multi-target drug design.

Multi-target drugs hold great promise for treating complex diseases, yet existing methodologies predominantly rely on ligand-based approaches, which lack sufficient biological context and are often confined to specific target pairs, resulting in limited generalizability. Here, we introduce LaMGen, a general-purpose multi-target drug design framework powered by large language models (LLMs). Built on MTD2025, a dataset comprising over 600,000 quantum-accurate molecular conformations and 700,000 multi-target associations, LaMGen directly yields energy-favorable conformations with quantum-level ac…

Auditable Automation of Activated Sludge Modeling for Wastewater Treatment Diagnosis Using LLM-Agents.

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) need mechanistic models that explain carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus transformations under changing operating conditions. Building activated sludge models (ASMs) still depends heavily on expert choices about boundaries, components, and reactions. We developed AutoWWTP-ASM, an auditable large-language-model agent (LLM-Agent) workflow for library-constrained ASM configuration, execution, and calibration. The workflow converts wastewater-process descriptions into structured configurations and combines a predefined ASM library with boundary specification and op
