A subciliary incision may be associated with various complications of the lower eyelid when it is used during a total maxillectomy. The use of the transconjunctival incision instead is an alternative in suitable patients. Reconstruction of the upper lip requires symmetrical reconstruction of the free border according to the aesthetic principle. We have reconstructed this area with a hatchet flap, so that the scars match the subunit line as far as possible by rotation and advancement of the flap. We operated on six patients. Solid organ transplant recipients have an increased risk of lip cancer, but the reasons are uncertain. Using data from the Transplant Cancer Match Study, we describe the epidemiology of lip cancer among 261 500 transplant recipients in the United States. Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome (SGBS) is an X linked disorder characterised by pre- and postnatal overgrowth, coarse facial features, and visceral and skeletal abnormalities. Like other overgrowth syndromes, in the SGBS there is an increased risk for developing neoplasia, mainly embryonic, such as Wilms tumour. We report a 3 year old male patient with SGBS and hepatocellular carcinoma, a previously undescribed tumour associated with the syndrome.
