Pulmonary vascular changes were studied in 100 cases of isolated mitral stenosis; these included 90 patients in whom lung biopsies were obtained at valvotomy and 10 patients who came to necropsy. BACKGROUND: We often encounter preterm infants with Down syndrome (DS) who die in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). In this study, we examined survival until NICU discharge and assessed the developmental prognosis of preterm infants with DS.

BACKGROUND: Chylothorax is the leakage of chyle into the pleural space and is associated with up to 50% morbidity. Although, the identification of traumatic chylothoraces is well described, non-traumatic chylothoraxes, mostly idiopathic, present therapeutic challenges as they are difficult to localize.
