A community intervention study on patients' resuscitation and defibrillation quality after embedded training in a cardiac rehabilitation program.

The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a novel cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training method embedded in a cardiac rehabilitation program at enhancing patients' CPR and defibrillation skills. One hundred and fourteen participants with coronary heart disease enrolled on an exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation program were included. Two groups were randomly allocated to different training programs: CPR-retraining based on hands-on rolling refreshers during the 2-month program (G-CPR, n = 53) versus standard one-time training (G-Stan, n = 61). Resuscitation and defibrill

Use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Patients with Rare Bone Diseases and Osteoporosis.

(1) Background: The use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) has seen a notable increase in popularity. However, there is an absence of data regarding the prevalence of CAM use in patients with rare bone diseases (RBDs). (2) Methods: This monocentric, cross-sectional study was carried out in a reference hospital for RBDs. RBD patients included individuals with osteogenesis imperfecta, hypophosphatasia and X-linked hypophosphatemia, and their data were compared with those of patients with osteoporosis (OPO) and of healthy controls (CON). This study utilized the German version (I-CAM-

Psychosocial determinants of food cravings in women with overweight and obesity: self-stigmatisation, weight bias and self-esteem.

BACKGROUND: Weight-related self-stigma and internalised weight bias may intensify food cravings and undermine psychological resources such as self-esteem, yet their combined contribution to food cravings among women with overweight and obesity is not well characterized. This study compared these psychosocial factors between women with overweight and those with obesity and examined their independent associations with food craving. METHODS: The sample included 179 women with BMI ≥ 25 who completed a sociodemographic questionnaire and validated measures of weight-related self-stigma, internalise

Passive event-related potentials to a single tone in treatment-resistant depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and borderline personality disorder patients.

PURPOSE: Treatment-resistant depression is comorbid with personality or anxiety disorder; how passive attention functions in these disorders remains unknown. A single tone-elicited event-related potential P3 component (passive P3) might help to characterize the passive attention in these disorders. METHODS: The passive P3 test was applied to 32 patients with treatment-resistant depression, 35 with generalized anxiety disorder, and 21 with borderline personality disorder, as well as to 31 healthy volunteers. The Zung Self-rating Depression and Anxiety Scales were used to measure the respective

Clinical and epidemiological profile of lichen striatus in children-Experience from a tertiary care hospital.

We analyzed records of 30 patients with lichen striatus (age < 18 years) in this retrospective study. Seventy percent were females and 30% were males with a mean age of diagnosis of 5.38 ± 4.22 years. The most common age group affected was 0-4 years. The mean duration of lichen striatus was 6.66 ± 4.22 months. Atopy was present in 9 (30%) patients. Although LS is a benign self-limited dermatosis, long-term prospective studies with a greater number of patients will help in better understanding of the disease including its etiopathogenesis and association with atopy.

Evaluating the impact of early dignity therapy on quality of life in patients with brain tumors: A pilot study.

OBJECTIVES: Brain tumors are associated with negative changes in sense of self and increased distress early in the illness trajectory. Dignity Therapy (DT) is a brief 2-session therapeutic intervention for patients at end-of-life (EOL) that helps conserve a patient's sense of dignity or self. DT has shown positive results for patients at EOL including increased meaning, improved quality of life (QOL), and reduced distress, with limited research to date on patients early in their illness trajectory (non-EOL). This pre-post design pilot study investigated the benefits and feasibility of DT for 2

Brief family-based treatment (FBT) for parents/caregivers of youth with anorexia nervosa: lessons learned from a multi-method pilot study.

Family-based treatment (FBT) is the recommended approach for adolescents with eating disorders (EDs), but long waitlists hinder its delivery. This study aimed to explore the feasibility and acceptability of a brief 5-week outpatient FBT psychoeducation group for parents/caregivers of adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN). The secondary aim of this study was to examine its preliminary effectiveness of increasing parental self-efficacy and decreasing expressed emotion and accommodation of the eating disorder. Eighteen parents/caregivers of adolescents (n = 9; aged 9-18) with AN were recruited.

An online, father-inclusive parenting intervention for reducing child conduct problems: a randomised controlled trial of family man.

BACKGROUND: Parenting interventions are effective for improving child conduct problems (CPs), but online self-directed interventions are required to improve reach and impact. Mothers are the main users of such programmes; fathers show low participation rates despite evidence of increased efficacy when they participate. METHODS: This randomised controlled trial examined the efficacy of Family Man, a brief, self-directed online parenting intervention for fathers and mothers of children with CPs. The intervention involves several innovative design features to maximise the engagement of fathers.

Internet-based self-help for trichotillomania: a randomized controlled study comparing decoupling and progressive muscle relaxation.

BACKGROUND: Trichotillomania (TTM) is characterized by recurrent hair-pulling that results in substantial hair loss. A previous pilot study demonstrated that the online self-help intervention 'decoupling' (DC) might be effective at reducing hair-pulling symptoms, with a stronger effect than progressive muscle relaxation (PMR). We aimed to extend these findings using a more robust randomized clinical trial design, including diagnostic interviews by phone, a 6-month follow-up and e-mail support. METHODS: One hundred five adults with TTM were recruited online and randomly allocated to either DC

Effect of Multivoice Chorus on Interpersonal Communication Disorder.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

OBJECTIVE: As a type of music therapy, multipart chorus does not have high requirements for participants, and the basic level can be high or low. For college students, it is more likely to participate. Exploring the effect of multivoice chorus intervention on college students' mental health can provide reference for school psychological correction work. This study uses multivoice chorus as a means, combined with certain group psychological counseling techniques, to try to explore a new model for improving the mental health of college students. METHOD: Fifty college students in prison were sel

Effects of chronic cocaine self-administration and N-acetylcysteine on learning, cognitive flexibility, and reinstatement in nonhuman primates.

RATIONALE: Cocaine use disorder (CUD) is associated with cognitive deficits that have been linked to poor treatment outcomes. An improved understanding of cocaine's deleterious effects on cognition may help optimize pharmacotherapies. Emerging evidence implicates abnormalities in glutamate neurotransmission in CUD and drugs that normalize glutamatergic homeostasis (e.g., N-acetylcysteine [NAC]) may attenuate CUD-related relapse behavior. OBJECTIVES: The present studies examined the impact of chronic cocaine exposure on touchscreen-based models of learning (repeated acquisition) and cognitive
