Oxidative damage in neuronal cells and DNA has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various neurodegenerative diseases. We have demonstrated that DNA strand breakage is induced synergistically when plasmid DNA is incubated in the presence of both an NO-releasing compound (diethylamine NONOate, spermine NONOate, sodium nitroprusside) and a catecholamine (e.g., L-DOPA, dopamine, etc.). A series of new N-phenylbenzamido acid derivatives was synthesized and evaluated for their ability to inhibit the IgE-mediated passive cutaneous anaphylaxis in the rat (PCA), as well as for their capacity to inhibit gastric mucosal damage induced by the oral administration of absolute alcohol in the rat. OBJECTIVE: Application of SnCl(2)/AmF/NaF containing mouth rinse showed good protection against erosion. The aim of the study was to evaluate if this is due to the amount of KOH-soluble fluoride (KOHsF) formed or its resistance under erosive conditions.
METHODS: One hundred and fifty bovine enamel samples were allocated to five groups (n = 30) and were once eroded in 0.05 mol/l citric acid (5 min).
