We present the case of a female patient admitted for an abdominal tumoral mass corresponding to large liver metastases. The abdominal ultrasonography detected a solid intestinal tumor. The capsule endoscopy showed a vegetative tumor on the terminal ileum. After intestinal and partial liver resection, the histologic examination identified a neuroendocrine tumor. The patient responded incompletely to standard chemotherapy. In the presence of large hypoechoic liver metastases, a neuroendocrine tumor should be suspected.

A 16 year old male experienced blunt ocular trauma causing rupture of the anterior lens capsule and mature cataract development. The trauma was due to a stone that impacted the left eye. In an otherwise clear lens, an anterior lens capsule defect formed post-trauma that progressed to a mature cataract over four months reducing distance vision from 20/125 to hand motion. The patient underwent phacoemulsification with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation in the left eye. In this paper, we consider the ocular lens in the context of contemporary developments in biological ideas. We attempt to reconcile lens biology with stem cell concepts and a dearth of lens tumors.Historically, the lens has been viewed as a closed system, in which cells at the periphery of the lens epithelium differentiate into fiber cells. In this study we investigated the commonality and biosynthesis of the O-methyl phosphoramidate (MeOPN) group found on the capsular polysaccharide (CPS) of Campylobacter jejuni. High resolution magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy was used as a rapid, high throughput means to examine multiple isolates, analyze the cecal contents of colonized chickens, and screen a library of CPS mutants for the presence of MeOPN. BACKGROUND: The distribution of lesions in the gastrointestinal tract in patients with sporadic telangiectasia is at present unknown.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: 75 patients with sporadic telangiectasia underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), capsule endoscopy, and colonoscopy. Endoscopic diagnosis of telangiectasia and gastrointestinal bleeding were required for enrollment in the study. PURPOSE: To examine the effect of contraction of the anterior capsule opening after cataract surgery on visual acuity and contrast sensitivity.
SETTING: Hayashi Eye Hospital, Fukuoka, Japan.
METHODS: Thirty-two eyes of 32 consecutive patients who showed marked contraction of the anterior capsule opening after implantation of an intraocular lens were recruited. BACKGROUND: The current power of capsule endoscopy (CE) to diagnose patients with obscure GI bleeding is 42% to 74.4%.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic power of CE through its ability to detect duodenal papilla.
DESIGN AND PATIENTS: A total of 112 consecutive CEs were retrospectively reviewed. All patients had undergone esophagogastroduodenoscopy and had their normal duodenal papilla confirmed.
SETTING AND INTERVENTIONS: The CE findings were reviewed separately at a rate of 15 images/second by 2 experienced and competent capsule readers.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the effect and security of Jinghua Weikang Capsule (JWC) and famotidine in treating duodenal ulcer.
METHODS: Two hundred patients with duodenal ulcer were randomly divided into the treated group treated with JWC, 160 mg 3 times per day and the control group treated with famotidine 20 mg twice per day, both by orally taking before meal for 4 weeks, 100 cases in each group. Changes of symptom score, adverse reaction, helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and endoscopic figure before and after treatment were observed.
