The antibody activities and complement fixing ability of the IgG subclass antibodies of herpes gestationis (HG) and bullous pemphigoid (BP) antibodies were investigated. IgG was prepared by DEAE Affi-Gel Blue column. IgG3 and IgG 1.2.4 fractions were isolated through Protein-A Sepharose CL-4B column. BACKGROUND: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is generally considered a rare illness in adults. Classically, HFMD has been strongly associated with coxsackievirus strain A16 and enterovirus 71. The coxsackievirus A6 (CVA6) strain has been linked to severe worldwide outbreaks since 2008. CVA6 is associated with a more severe and profound course of disease, affecting both children and adults.
OBJECTIVES: To present a series of five adult patients diagnosed with HFMD due to CVA6. We investigate method of diagnosis and compare clinical presentation of adult cases to those in children.

Patients with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have elevated titers of precipitating antibody toward an antigen designated RA nuclear antigen (RANA). Anti-RANA reactivity has been associated with prior Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. C3 was detected bound in vivo to the opaque cornea of horses inoculated with killed Leptospira interrogans. Employing epithelial corneal cells isolated from a monolayer in tissue culture, we proved that C3 is fixed in vitro to the intact cell surface after incubation with a fresh equine anti-Leptospira serum. These findings, in addition to the infiltration of cornea with neutrophils and lymphocytes, may explain the mechanisms of tissue damage in recurrent uveitis of horses with leptospirosis.

Twenty-five steers were infected with T. vivax (EATRO 1721), 25 steers with T. congolense (EATRO 1800) and 25 steers kept as controls. In rhesus monkeys a wide dosage range of 17D yellow fever (YF) vaccine extending to a level even below that recommended for vaccination of man elicited an immune response providing solid protection to challenge with virulent YF virus.
